OK, Firstly the Creative Zen Mp3 player is a great Purchase - buy one now, if you already have one, congratulate youself on a good choice.
There is really no point comparing it to an ipod, ipods are "fashionable" but of no real use, a Zen beats the ipod hands down on price and storage and battery life (14 hours). People say that the ipod looks nice, well whats wrong with my Zen Xtra, it comes in a nice silver colour and i certainly wouldnt be ashamed to show it to my friends and use it infront of them.
Ok, to address some concerns........
The Battery cover coming off - the battery cover is secured by a catch at the bottom which I have found has a nice strong spring and has yet to come off once accidently. A good design.
Its too big - The Zen Xtra fits comfortably into my pocket it is about the same height as a Nokia 5210 and 1.5x the width of it.
You can't see the screen when the cover's on - When the zen xtra was first realised they sent out cases that for some reason did not have a see through bit where it goes over the screen. The Version I bought a few months ago DOES have a space allowing you to keep the zen in its case at all times, meaning it doesnt get damaged.
Ok, the zen software isnt that great, but once you get used to it, it is actually quite easy and fast to change track details ad you can download a song a second onto the player using usb 2.0.
Users of Winamp will be pleased to know you can get a winamp plugin for Creative Zen's allowing you to see and play the tracks on your mp3 player in Media Library.
Sound quality on these players is brilliant. Creative is renound for great sound quality and it doesnt disapoint. The EAX Audio functions are great and very useful
So to sum up, if you are looking for an mp3 player that has great sound quality a long battery life and does the job, this is the player for you.
