    Advantages Advantages Excellent in amateur and pro music processing. Second-best choice after a DVD-Player machine for listening to surround movies.

    Creative Labs have a knack for producing the bees knees of sound cards, the Live! 5.1 has proved to be no exception to their winning formula. Building my own computer, I choose this sound card first and foremost for the brand. In the few months I have been using this card I have been amazing by the Live! experience.     A couple of months ago I decided that I wanted a decent sound card to replace the useless on-board sound supplied by my motherboard. Whilst doing some research I came across the Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1. I thought it had a good specification and was dead cheap(£39.50 for the OEM version with software). It took quite a while to get everything installed but once it was up and running I was able to listen to my my favorite music (i.e Coldplay and Doves).     Advantages Advantages Good, reliable card, unlike some cheap PCI cards.

    Creative aren't my favourite company really - I feel their products are overpriced compared to the competition, and they have a habit of bringing out many versions of the same product which can be completely incompatible. When my SBLive finally packed up last month, I decided to shop around a bit because I really wanted to break the Creative habit. However, all the cards I got were absolutely useless. Crackling, popping audio, cheap contruction, intrusive drivers and so on. Returning computer components can be a hassle at best, and often a complete nightmare.
