I brought my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro last year (2006) around about the Easter period as I had been using the MSN messenger service for quite a while and a lot of my friends and family had them and so I thought that it was about time I got one too.
== Price ==
I first brought my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro at a PC world in Canterbury, it cost me about £30, however this was quite a while ago and I have looked around and on the internet I have found the same webcam for around about £20 so do your home work first.
== Picture ==
The Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro can take photos at an incredible
1.3 mega pixels which is one of the highest quality still picture capture for webcams and you'll be hard pressed to find better.
== Video ==
There is additional free software that comes with this webcam and on it are several functions, one of which is video capture, this webcam records video in an amazing 800 x 600 pixels at a rate of 30 frames per second which again for a webcam is hard to beat.
== Picture and Video quality ==
I have used my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro several times to take pictures and to take video and I have never had any problems all of my pictures and videos have always been to a very high standard and I have never experienced colour bleeding.
However I tend to use my webcam a lot on things like MSN as I mentioned before and I have had the Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro freeze on me before if I move too quickly or have a webcam on with several contacts (normally more than 3) but if you only have it on too a few contacts and aren't jumping up and down it'll work great.
== Design ==
The Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro has a very sleek and stylish design and looks a great addition to any laptop or desktop computer. The Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro has a very functional base which allows it to pivot forwards and backwards as well as rotate a full 360º.
The base is also designed with a stand, which with a simple twist turns into a clip which can be attached to the top of any laptop of flat screen monitor. Alternatively you could simple sit the stand flat on a work surface if you are using a desktop computer.
== Ease of use and installation ==
This product benefits from being plug and play software which means that all you have to do is plug it into a USB 2.0 connection and your off and ready to play.
Like I mentioned before there is additional free software which comes on a CD which you simply have to insert into your CD drive and follow the on screen steps it really couldn't be any easier.
Once this software is installed simply go to start menu > all programmes > creative and then click on any of the webcam features in the drop down list. Once selected the programme will pop up and then just simply follow the instructions as every thing is easily set out and easily accessible.
== Manufacture support ==
I have to confess that I have never needed to contact the Creative support centre as I have never really had any serious trouble with my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro But if you need to all the relevant numbers are on the back of the box or alternatively you can look at the website http://www.creative.com/support/ .
== Instruction manual ==
Again another confession I never actually opened the instruction manual till after I had already installed and used my Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro for some time, this was because I had no trouble at all with installation or with using the product.
However I have recently looked t the instruction manual purely out of curiosity and I have found it to be very good it contained every thing that you needed to know, with clear diagrams and simple steps to follow for virtually any problem and again the support number for Creative is in there two.
== Value for money ==
Like I said before I paid around £30 which to be honest I think is a little bit steep but I have had a lot of use out of it, and like I mentioned before the prices have come down since I purchased mine so I think that it is exceptional value for money.
