...I therefore highly recommend the Creative MuVo to anyone who needs a media player than can be independant from a computer (such as people who travel often). The fact that it relies on AAA batteries rather than needing to be charged via USB further gives it some degree of indepedance from the computer (as long, of course, as you've already transfered music to it). With regard to sound quality, I thought it was good, but nothing oustanding. I think ... ...you have, rather than the player itself. I thought the supplied headphones, although not top of the range, were more than good enough.
Ease of Use
-------------------
In a nutshell I found it very simple. It comes with a rather bulky looking instruction manual but fortunatly only the first few pages are in English - a sure indictor that there is not much you wouldn't be able to work out for yourself. The only buttons ... more
Price ------------
I bought this MP3 player quite a few years ago now (perhaps five) and it cost me around £50. At the time I though it was rather expensive. However upon consideration I realised that it is really a great product (admittedly slightly dated) and was probably worth the money, THEN. As technology has moved on and prices have come down I really wouldn't pay any more than £20 for it today (mainly because of its obvious age regarding its capacity). That aside, it looks good, operates well and has a range of great features - some very rare now such as the independant delete function...
Features ---------------
I was pleasantly surprised by the range of features such a small and old MP3 player can be capable of. As well as all the expected functions (such as volume control etc) it has:
>An in-built microphone to record live audio >A 'lock' fuction >A Backlight (which you can set to stay on for different periods of time) >An Equalizer >A skip folder (to have songs stored on the player but not to listen to them) >An in-built radio >And perhaps best of all, an independant delete fuction on the player itself.
In my own experience, the radio and the independant delete fuction are the most rare amoung most modern MP3 players and I believe would be a major attraction to those thinking of purchasing this product. Most modern media players, in my own experience, must be plugged into a computer to be able to modify their contents. I therefore highly recommend the Creative MuVo to anyone who needs a media player than can be independant from a computer (such as people who travel often). The fact that it relies on AAA batteries rather than needing to be charged via USB further gives it some degree of indepedance from the computer (as long, of course, as you've already transfered music to it). With regard to sound quality, I thought it was good, but nothing oustanding. I think this is probably more influenced by the quality of headphones you have, rather than the player itself. I thought the supplied headphones, although not top of the range, were more than good enough.
Ease of Use ------------------- In a nutshell I found it very simple. It comes with a rather bulky looking instruction manual but fortunatly only the first few pages are in English - a sure indictor that there is not much you wouldn't be able to work out for yourself. The only buttons on the player are volume, on/play and the scroller. All of the major functions are accessed by clicking the scroller inwards and then moving it from side to side.
Physical Design ------------------------
I thought it was almost flawless in this area except for the fact that the flash drive itself is a little wide, so for computers with USB ports close together it may dominate two USB ports which is rather annoying. Apart from that I've had no problems.
Summary --------------
It is (now) somewhat let down by its age and rather dissapointing storage capacity, however I believe its ease of use, great range of features and great design still give it a high appeal in todays market. [I'm not really sure why I had to rate its video quality as it does not have a video playback feature]
