The sound quality is superb from such a small, cheap player, you could be listening to an iPod in my opinion and not tell much difference. It never skips - I often take it with me to the gym and have had no problems whatsoever. It is very durable - I have dropped it a number of times and it still works fine.
When I received the product, it came with a ton of software on CD, but you needn't use this. It can be as easy as plug-and-play, just pull the black memory section away from the battery section and slot it into any USB port, then drag and drop files using Windows Explorer and they'll stay on the device for as long as you wish. From here you can also transfer files from the player to you PC. You can delete files, rename them and change other basic properties all with a few clicks under an interface that you're used to. You can put any sort of file on the device, not just music - so it can be used as a 'USB Memory Stick' as well as a player. It also works well with Windows Media Player - you can synchronise your music from there, if you find that easier.
The actual operation of the product has been made very easy. You use the click wheel to scroll through tracks in alphabetical order and hit the play button to listen to your selection. The volume buttons on the bottom make it easy to adjust the … well volume! When you change the volume a bar appears onscreen with more shading depending on the level. You can push the wheel down to go to a sub-menu where you can access settings, radio, microphone, equaliser and look through different folders you have created.
The device (as you can see) looks - in my opinion - pretty nice, but I leave you to make your mind up on that. The blue glow that appears whenever the player is active also looks very cool.
The battery life is very good: 15 hours, so if a song is on average 3 minutes that's in theory around 270 songs played by 2 batteries - whilst you might not quite get this as changing songs/functions/starting up/turning off wastes extra power. I would have preferred a built in battery with perhaps a charger cable for convenience, but for an MP3 player that can be bought for so cheaply, rechargeable batteries are just fine.
The FM tuner is fair - it can pick up strong frequencies and has a handy autoscan feature, also the fact you can directly record ongoing broadcasts is very nice.
The microphone is not bad at all, it's not exactly recording studio quality but it's easily audible which is good for (again!) a player that can be bought so cheaply.
The equaliser seems to work well, even though I don't use it much as my music is so varied in style. But if you are a total rocker - set it to rock and the music will play with a noticeably more 'rocky' effect (eg. more bass) and the same sort of things happen for the other styles. If none of these are to your liking you can just set it to an equal balance on 'Normal' (like me) or create your own equaliser setting.
The device can play MP3, ADPCM, WMA and many protected WMA files. It can (as I briefly mentioned earlier) store any type of file and act as a plug-and-play 'Memory Stick' device.
Overall, this is a great product, at a low price. I would recommend it to potential buyers. It has served me well now for a couple of years and I plan on keeping it for at least another year. It is practical, stylish and very useful.
Hope this helps you with your purchasing decisions!
Advantages: Light, Compact, Great Sound Quality Disadvantages: Suitable only for easy access USB ports
The Creative MuVo is a flash memory based mp3 player, which basically means no moving parts (unlike iPods and other similar products) which means there really isn't that much to break on it! You are offered three different memory sizes; 128, 256, and 512mb (megabytes).
MEMORY:
Obviously, the larger the memory capacity, the more tracks it can hold, although, this also depends on what format you choose to have your tracks as. MP3 (Mpeg Layer 3) boasts ... ...that later on....
The Creative website states the following memory capacities
128mb - WMA - 4 Hours (60 Tracks)
MP3 - 2 Hours (30 Tracks)
256mb - WMA - 8 Hours (120 Tracks)
MP3 - 4 Hours (60 Tracks)
512mb - WMA - 16 Hours (240 Tracks)
MP3 - 8 Hours (120 Tracks)
What the website doesn't tell you though, is that the way you have titled your tracks affects the amount that you can have on, (unfortunately i only own the 512mb version and was unable ...

...every MP3. Eventually found the Creative Muvo TX 128MB for £49.95, and with only one left in stock, I had to have it. From then onwards, I could continue to be a normal teenager, free from persecution. It came in a tiny plastic case - no cardboard box! - with some headphones, a manual and a software CD. After going at the packaging hammer and tongs for 45 minutes, or rather scissors and knife (the case was bloody impossible to open), I could finally ... ...the computer to record songs from CD's and put them onto the MP3. So I did just that. My god, it's so complicated. The page that comes up when it's all done and you're ready to start has so many symbols and buttons. No, I thought, sod this. Windows Media Player does just as good a job - if you have Windows XP, then it rips songs from the CD and puts them in your documents. You can then copy them onto the drive that your MP3 is in. I think mine is ...

Advantages: Great handy player Disadvantages: Creating playable files isn't so easy
...So I opted for a Creative player because it's a well known, leading brand which a lot of people recommended. What also helped was an offer on Dixons website to buy the 256mb MuVo version for £39.99 (including postage).
I did debate whether 256mb was going to be big enough. There are some much bigger players around but Creative reckon you can easily get 80 tracks on 256mb and I realised when I'd dropped off tracks I didn't want that would be 6 or ... ...go).
I ordered my Creative MuVo TX 256mb MP3 player from Dixons and when it arrived I very excitedly ripped open the packaging to get started with it. I say ripped, in fact it took my about 10 mins just to get into the box, but nevermind. I was pleased to see it came with a battery (it takes 1 x AAA battery) and I quickly slipped that in, plus headphones (with fuzzy earpieces). The player itself is light, about the size of a large cigarette lighter ...
