My kids complain that I put my music on too often and too loud so I had wanted an mp3 player for a while. Prices were just too high for my pocket though so my kids just had to suffer my taste in music. That is until I saw the Creative MuVo V200 with 512mb flash memory from Dixons store for £69.99.
The fact that it has flash memory means that the battery (It takes 1 x AAA) lasts longer because it doesn't have anything to spin (like a hard disk one would). The bumf says that the battery life is 15 hours. That's about right, maybe a little more but definitely no less. The fact that it's USB2 means basically that you can drag and drop music onto it and because it's flash memory it doesn't jump if you do.
I have 17 albums stored in .wma format ripped at 64k (CD Quality) which sounds as good as if not better than .mp3 format ripped at 128k (CD Quality) and takes up just over half the space that mp3s would. You move about your albums (folders) by means of a springy feeling button. Once in your folder, you can move about your tracks by the same method. Or you could just let it do its stuff and sit and enjoy the music, after all, that's what you've put it on for isn't it?
The "springy feeling" button is what you use to navigate the unit. The website gives you all the units specifications and options.
It is easier for me to have the buttons on top but the default display meant I had to operate it with the buttons on the bottom if I wanted to read anything. However, one clever option that I found very useful enabled me to turn the display "upside down".
Getting the music onto the Creative MuVo V200 is quite easy… you are supplied with a disc that contains drivers for non XP computers but also on the disc, is software to rip CD's. I found that naming the tracks by (for example, 01 - Track Name), kept them in track playing order in the album folder, otherwise the tracks are played in alphabetical order.
The earphones have a long thin cord that allows you to put the player in your pocket while you're listening to it. I have found that the cord easily gets tangled though if I don't store the player away correctly when I've finished listening to it.
The Creative MuVo V200 has a good sound to it as it is, but another one of the options (one which I have had no reason to use) is a graphic equaliser.

This MuVo mp3 player is about the same size as a matchbox. ... ...quite cool. The small screen on it will light up with a luminous blue colour and this looks quite catchy.
This device has 512MB of digital memory and can store approximately 260 tracks on it. Although 260 is a lot of music, it does not come close to the hours and hours of music you can store on an iPod.

...visible to some people, however creative have used a bright blue backlight which I find helps. now to the buttons...again this is due to its design and the buttons can become very fiddly especially with large hands like myself.
