Working in IT I have become a bit of a gadget monster and I have to say that the Creative Jukebox MP3 player is by far and away the best gadget I have ever bought. Believe me if you saw my gadget filled house you would know that is saying something.

I recently bought myself the 10GB version of the Jukebox for £200 from a local reseller. It is supplied with a Li-ion battery which lasts about 16 hours and takes about 3-4 hours for a full charge. You also get some excellent headphones which are not the old style that sit on the top of your head. These one wrap round your ears and the strap goes round the back of your head just above your next. The headphones are extremely comfortable to wear and you almost forget that you're wearing them. The sound quality from the headphone is excellent which it needs to be to mirror the excellent sound quality of the player. I was also pleased to see that Creative had taken it upon themselves to include a nice leather pouch which has a belt clip on the back and a see through front so you see what you're doing. You also get the Battery charger and a USB 2.0 cable.

The player can hold about 250 CDs worth of music which equates to roughly 4000 songs and is the size and weight of a portable CD player. Having rather a large music collection on CD and MP3 I was not looking forward to the task of transferring it to the player, however I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. The player is supplied with drivers for most Microsoft operating systems and Creative Playcenter software for the managing and transferring of MP3 files. I connected the USB 2.0 cable to my PC and it immediately picked up the player and opened the Playcenter software. I could then point it at any directory that I had MP3 files in and click on the transfer button. It is also just as easy to put a CD in your PC and transfer it straight to the player.

The player has a headphone socket and also a line in and line out socket. I got myself a headphone jack splitter which allows me to plug phono leads into it and connect it to my Dolby 5.1 Amplifier. The sound is incredible and so much clearer and crisper than CD. It has become a real favorite at parties as instead of having all my CDs littering my living room my friends just pass round this little device and select what songs they want. The songs are listed in Album/Artist or Genre so it's very easy to find the song you want, even with 4000 on there. You can add as many songs as you want to a playlist and then just leave it to play. Essentially it's like having your own DJ in your living room.

I have also bought myself the Creative In car Cassette adapter. I got this for £7 including postage from the Creative website and it couldn't be better value for money. It looks just like a cassette that has a lead with a headphone jack on the end. You push the cassette into your car stereo and then plug the headphone jack into your MP3 player. You can then listen to all your 4000 songs in the car. It's like having a 250 CD auto-changer in your boot.

All in all, I can't recommend this device enough and for those of you out there who are not big music lovers, I also keep audio books on mine such as Lord of the Rings, Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. When I don't fancy music I can always listen to stories which is great when you're on holiday. Who wants to drag round 250 CDs on holiday with them as well as a CD player but with this little device you can.

Do yourself a favour and get straight down to your nearest computer shop and buy one now, you won't regret it.

...control, docking station and other Creative product compatibility. For features you simply will not find anything better, no not even the ipod! Sound quality is excellent with a software based equaliser to boost base and treble to very fine levels. You will need to get another pair of headphones though, as with nearly all players like this, the 'come with' ones are crap! Also to get the best functionality you'll need to download the latest firmware ...
...features and sound quality. Other Creative players like the Zen are more portable but lack the features, and the ipod is perhaps easier to use as well as being more portable. The JB3 also has amazing battery life, with two battery compartments, rated playing time is more than triple that of the latest ipods.
