Well, this card works a dream. I couldn't ask for more and especially ... more
This is being used as the primary sound card inside my computer. Sound card aren't really much needed these days as computers onboard (motherboard) sound are just as good.
It came in a package with an installation CD-Rom. Installing was easy (considering you know how to plug in something to PCI/PCI-Express etc...) It requires no cables to be attached to it but has an area for one which I think is for making a direct connection to your CD drive which isn't at all necessary.
Sound quality on this is excellent none-the-less. It is clear as you could possibly want it in 7.1 mode. It has ports for microphone, speakers and… well I don't know what the other two are to tell the truth but the green and pink normal ones are there. It can be run in 2, 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1 modes.
The software included is very useful. It comes with the drivers, a control panel and loads of other creative software. CONCLUSION
Well, this card works a dream. I couldn't ask for more and especially for only 15£!!!. The pricing was superb. I got it from www.ebuyer.com a few months back and it works fine still. A superb card- certainly recommended.
Advantages: Lots of software Disadvantages: Constant rebooting needed on a high end PC
This sound card came with my new PC in nov 06.it was a troublesome card from the start, lots of unnecessary software on the disk that is no particular use unless you want to alter all kinds of EAX settings.
On games like oblivion it would grind to a halt after five minutes with shuddering sound that rendered the game unplayable, this happened with lots of other games too.
If you use youtube or similar you may experience that after the 3rd or fourth ... ...again, always resulting in the need to reboot the computer.
I struggled for a couple of months trying to find the issue with this even with clean booting, I am a very experienced PC user and my PC is high end, all the drivers were updated and my system is clean so it was not a hardware issue.
I installed a SB 16 bit soundcard which then ran absolutely perfectly.
After searching online I found that many were having issues similar to mine with this ...

Quick review of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE
I've had this card for about 4 years, I bought it because I was bought surround sound for my computer for christmas one year, so obviously I wanted a cheap card so I could use them. It all those years it has never failed me, always producing a nice clean sound, yes it has unwanted software but you can simply select not to install it. It recently produced a fuzzing sound randomly while playing music but this was because it was slightly dislodged from it's connections. Put it back in and my music is playing better than ever. Very happy with product and would recommend, shame to hear the bad reviews. ...

Quick review of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE
I have a Shuttle AN35N400 (nforce2 chipset) motherboard with Realtek onboard audio. Well, the onboard audio is not good enough for me and I never liked onboard audio anyway, so I looked for a Soundblaster Live. However, they didn't make those anymore so I was offered a Soundblaster Audigy Value (same as the SE) instead. The price was low, but the sound quality was an amazing upgrade from onboard sound! It has excellent sound on my Altec Lansing 321s (two speakers and a subwoofer). I have had no problems with this card and am not sure why others are giving it bad ratings for stability. It's perfectly stable on my system (Windows XP SP3). ...
