Creative Sound Blaster Connect

Advantages: Good sound, optical connections, complete bundle
Disadvantages: A bit light, stereo only via analogue

Installation

Being a USB device, you simply need to install the drivers, plug it in to a USB socket and away you go. The Sound Blaster Connect takes its power from the USB connection so no external power pack is needed which is a major plus point. My system has Windows XP and an existing onboard sound card but it's a ...
...the new external one worked fine but I decided to disable the onboard sound via the BIOS to ensure the new one was used by all my software by default.

Hardware

The unit itself is small, light and comes with a bracket for easy attachment to a laptop screen. Despite its size it has a generous selection of socketry. There are left/right line in and out connectors (gold plated) as well optical (TOSLink) in and out on one ... more

Quick review of Creative Sound Blaster Connect

To all who have Vista The information on the box indicating VISTA support is blatantly misleading. There is no proper support from the Creative site and the drivers available are Beta and wont necessarily install successfully This is not the first time I have been deceived by Creative but it shall be the last ...

Logitech X-230 2:1 Speaker System.

Advantages: Compact, deep loud sub, styling of satellites, competitive pricing.
Disadvantages: Much more powerful systems available.

makes connection to mp3 players and some televisions possible too. A two-way adapter for the signal source was included too. The thin mesh covering the satellites seems to be easy to damage so be careful if transporting, and make sure they don't fall off the desk. Some adjustment of your sound controls on your computer and on the sub and speakers is required to get the levels of bass and volume you require. The knob on the back of the sub doesn't allow you turn turn off the bass completely, but i've never really had a problem with this. I have owned these for 6 months now and they have been faultless. The bass should be run in below 100% for the first couple of weeks to let it "settle-in". I now have a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External sound card which these are connected to. The quality of the sound is even better at high ...

Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1

Advantages: Great quality sound, cheap
Disadvantages: None whatsoever

I was in the hunt for a new sound card and picked up this Sound blaster 'Live' by Creative from PC world for just £35. The sound blaster Live is powered by the EMU10K1 digital signal processor which means you get very high sound quality without losing any of the power of your PC which other sound cards and onboard sound chips may take away as they require your PC's processor to power the sound, this ofcourse is great news for gamers who need all the spare power they can get in order to obtain maximum framerates. The Creative sound blaster Live 5.1 has the ability to connect to dolby digital and multi-channel digital speaker systems and provides an awesome quality of surround sound in all its glory through 5.1 (providing you have surround sound speakers ofcourse) so you can experience movies via your PC as tho you were in a cinema ...
