The ideal versatile sound card to suit all digital entertainment experiences, the Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum sound card includes an internal drive bay with additional, convenient front-facing input/output connectivity for headphone listening, PC gaming and audio creation. The Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum includes the X-Fi IR remote, for easy access to the Entertainment Center software console, which enables access to music, movies and picture slide shows through a slick, streamlined interface. The Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum also includes all of the standard features, application software, power and performance capabilities of the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic.

Where to start...
Well the SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum has more features than you can shake a stick at! Just go to www.creative.com and look for it.
But from my experience here is what you get:
>Really high sound qaulity and support for analouge and digital 5.1 surround sound speaker rigs.
>A whole load of ports and sockets for pluging things into (It has a whole box of extra ports that firts in a drive bay)
>Some cool affects from echos to voice changers, I've had some great fun with those!
>Some very usefull bundeled software.
When I got everything out of the box there were so many bits I thaught "This is going to take ages" But a quick read through the quick start guide and everything was clear. I was installing it in a Compaq system...

Advantages: Crystal clear sound with a comprehensive software package Disadvantages: Features can be a bit daunting for the novice
...in and drivers installed, I also managed to increase my 3Dmark2003 scores by over 1000, showing that it does release a large amount of system resources for other devices.
Software as usual with creative packages will leave you wanting for nothing. The entertainment centre allows fine tuning sound for music/DVD or games independantly. Creative mediasource player is the best player/MP3 decoder I've used, and with the ability to plug in any musical instrument (I've plugged in my base and had a play with the recorder and audio creation packages), and tweak till you're hearts content. Short of full on proffesional suite from the likes of Yamaha, or spending another £150 on the X-Fiplatinum, you won't get a better package...
