Advantages Compact, long lasting batteries, good quality sound.
Disadvantages Not much bass, Cannot seperate the two speakers.
Let's get something straight to start with, you are not going to be able to run a disco with these speakers. That is not an insult to the speakers either. When I bought them I did not expect them to deafen me, but what I did expect was quality, mainly because they are made by CREATIVE LABS and that is what I got.
Let me explain, in 1990 I bought a computer, with that computer I received a set of Creative labs speakers, which were not an expensive set, but were of good quality sound, they lasted me13 years (they still work okay now) until I finally upgraded to another set of their speakers. Those were even more impressive and made by creative labs too, hence that is why i did not hesitate to buy creative labs again. The speaker set comes with its own mains power lead, a handy cloth case and a speaker to device connection cable. The whole package is just the right size to fit in our DVD player-carrying bag.
The quality of the sound is superb, if you were to plug them into a laptop for example, you would be the most impressed. But it easily improves on our DVD speakers output too. It also makes it louder, clearer and so, so much easier to hear on car journeys etc.The batteries that are used are 4 AAA`S, and they last a long time, probably 20-25 hours play time. This is down to the fact that they dual Titanium drivers,(whatever that means). But I take it to mean its a new speaker technology.
Wide effect stereo feature for enhanced stereo sound, which does work and is noticeable, this was no doubt introduced because the unit is one piece, and about 6 inches long, so the speakers are a couple of inches apart. They have a normalizer function which balances output volumes from tracks recorded at different levels. Not really noticed this that much seeing as I only really use it regularly for DVD playback, but I am sure it is there and works.
Getting technical for a minute:

Do these work with an MP3 player as well as a DVD ? I have a Philips HDD Jukebox and am looking for some good speakers to take abroad and conect to the MP3 rather than using the local radio Jane
