I have close family living in America, so use Skype all the time to keep in contact with them. This is why I needed a decent webcam, one that was of high image quality. I have owned webcams in the past, that have either broke, or the quality was terrible, so I was quite happy with this one, the Creative Webcam Live. There are so many features to this cam, a great advantage. When you shop for a webcam, Im guessing that most people will just look at the quality of imaging, but for me, I prefer a device that combines this with an array of amazing features. The Creative cam allows you to do the typical thing like zoom in and out, auto the focus and contrast, but in addition to this, it allows you to adjust the lighting to your specificifations. One great thing about this feature is that it does it automatically for you, so really you dont need to adjust it at all.

There is another brilliant feature, and to describe it, I will tell you about one occasion when it came in particularly handy. My daughter has just received her GCSE results last year, I wanted to show my sister her certificates. When I placed them in front of the camera, it auto zoomed in to them, showing them clearly on the screen, all the text visable as if you were looking at it in your hand.

When it comes to the quality of picture, I would say that it is second to none. The image displayed on the computer is almost no different to what you would see if you were looking into a mirror. Furthermore when you move, there is no delay or freezing in the motion on the screen, However, I should point out that I do believe this is due to the high speed broadband I have, if you a slower speed than me, I cant guarantee the same quality, but the same can be said for any webcam on the market.

Long gone are the days when you had to use a separate microphone plugged into your computer, as the Creative webcam has one installed into the device, and it picks up sound amazingly. There is a little issue as to where you place the webcam in relation to what the microphone can pick up. If the cam is situated right in front of you, they you dont have any problem, yet if it is placed to your side, then you may notice a little static, especially when you playback recordings you may make.

One of the best features is the software that is included with the Live webcam. Easy to install, just follow the on screen instructions that will appear the first time to connect the USB cable to your computer. There is a small button placed on top of the webcam, and when you press it, it will take a photo, which is instantly displayed using the imaging function of the software will will have installed. Using the software, you can edit the image, and then go on to send it my email or upload it to the internet, so in that way, the webcam doubles as a digital camera, although not portable in the same way.

I would give my recommendation in buying the Creative Webcam Live. It is a great device, full of great features, and what's more, it comes complete with software, enabling you fully edit your images and videos. Amazing quality for an even better price.
