Advantages: my english essay for a veiw from the bridge. what mark do u think it should get? Disadvantages: you tell me?
What is Alfieri’s function in the play? What values and laws does he represent? How does his presence alter the play or the audience’s perception of the characters? I believe that in Arthur Miller’s play a view from the bridge, many important issues are brought up; the connections between Catherine and Eddie as uncle and niece, the failing relationship between Beatrice and her husband and Marco and Rodolpho’s protection of each others pride. However, ......the struggle between justice and law, in which Alfieri plays an important part; Both in Eddie’s decision to turn to the law in act two, and his role as a narrator of the play. In the stage directions at the very start Miller describes Alfieri as a “lawyer……turning gray; portly and good humoured” People could interpret this in many different ways; one being to see Alfieri as jolly old man, almost a fatherly figure. By stating that Alfieri must be ... Read review

Advantages: Comparing Composed upon Westminster bridge Disadvantages: ...by Wordsworth with Blake's London
...1850 he had influenced English poetry as a whole by producing some of the greatest works in history. He was educated at grammar school and lived much of his life in amongst the northern lakes in the heart of the Lake District. The poet, artist, and printmaker William Blake on the other hand was not quite as orthodox. Largely unrecognized during his lifetime, Blake's work is today considered seminal and significant in the history of both poetry and ......Blake is highly regarded today for his expressiveness and creativity, and the philosophical vision that underlies his work, which was, in the most part, not as ordinary as that of William Wordsworth, who indeed wrote brilliant poetry, but yet did not write with quite such sincerity. Blake believed that he could converse aloud with the prophets of the Old Testament, but despite his love of God and the Bible, utterly disliked the established church, ... Read review
Advantages: A homage to that region of the soul we call America Disadvantages: A homage to that region of the soul we call America
Introduction This is my first semi-serious attempt to write a short story. In it, I have created a dystopian blend of crass corporate culture and what I hope is disturbing, unconscious imagery. I hope you enjoy the piece and I'd be very grateful for any critical feedback. Thanks for reading, Tim. The Boat to Camberley-Hey It was smarg o’clock in the morning and Wills, Pete, Bonesy and me had just finished the first Structured Discussion Session ......the new drink from Iso-Tone-O™ where all the sugar was replaced with, like, saccharine. Our Senior Demographic Analyst, Vickers, had been chairing the session and asked about the taste, the ad that accompanied it and whether it made us feel good. Wills, Pete, Bonesy and me had all agreed that we kinda liked the Iso-Tone-O lite™ and it did kinda make us feel good, but not so much as regular Iso-Tone-O™ or Fruit Hit™. We all reckoned the idea of Iso-Tone-O ... Read review

My beloved husband had a heart attack last week. It was the scariest afternoon of my life from the moment he called me at work to say he’d had severe chest pains for over 3 hours and did I think he had swine flu, me telling him to put down the phone immediately and call an ambulance with his exact location to me getting through to the hospital over 2 hours later to find out he’d indeed had a heart attack but had been treated and was stable and in ......My dear heart Please always look after you. You are so important to me, like you would not believe. The thought of you not being around forever scares me more than you can ever imagine, like dying 1000 deaths at the same time. You might have quit smoking 5 years ago but the damage was already done. You might have changed your diet several years ago to eat more sensibly but again the damage was already done. You might have been attending the ... Read review
