It’s really a heartening arrival from Creative planners and it seems this highly rated organization is getting their acts together. They have had lot of promise and Creative Zen, the latest arrival from their pipeline has established that they have the capacity to live up to the expectations. I always thought that user or customer feedback network is essential the success of products which have to cope of with such massive international competetion and their relentless endeavur to achieve technical perfection which can be provided to the international buyers at an affordable price. When I had the first had a look and a feel of Creative Zen it struck me that this was designed to compete with iPods at a reasonable level, being an iPod heater, Creative Zen has hardly meant a threat to the iPod community. In terms of technology and quality it’s yet to reach the class to give a reasonable challenge to Apple iPods. But all said and done Creative Zen has definitely got the class, as far as the audio players are concerned, to remarkably enhance Creative’s Audio products reputation.
DESIGN:
Refreshingly it has pretty
and intelligent look, in fact very impressive. It is compact, robust and more often than not may be confused with a credit card. The color option now available is black (definitely good thinking). It has inherited the best parts of Zen Vision in resemblance. At a measurement of 83.0 x 55.0 x 11.3mm it will fit into your pocket and stay their comfortable since it weighs only 65 g. or 2.1 oz. Might be a bit bulky but wait I will tell you why. The matte finish is an excellent choice as the glossy black plastic finish has the uncanny trend of blotching the appearnce with fingerprint impressions. Rating for this section: 8/10.
FEATURES:
It has got loads of excellent feature, and surprisingly most of them work with very little fuss. Creative Zen is a flash based player and has 2.5” screen boasting of a full size SD card slot. It is available in 4, 8 16 and 32 GB memory option with very little variation in the price tag. It’s eyeing at 5G iPods and has better color support. Infact Creative Zen supports 16.7 million colors althought technically or statistically a mssive achievement but hardly improves the video quality.
The FM radio band functions quite well and the voice recoder is a big plus. The creative DJ features is great.Rating for this section 9/10.

It’s a pity that it has no bluetooth compatibility which would have been a great option.
AUDIO PERFORMANCE:
In one word “Excellent” it has left all other Creative audio concoctions way behind. The bass is nothing less than booming, the highs and the mid-ranges are beautifully quantized to give a mindboggling audio reproduction. I have tried lots of typical tracks and I am prepared to admit happily its audio performance is very close to being flawless. It is interesting to note that Creative Zen has the capability of shutting off distortion at high volume and at lows Bethoven sounds heavenly and Crosby Still Nash and Young sounds gorgeous. Supports ACC files, WMA and proteced WMA, WAV, MP3 so it has easy access to iTunes Plus store but sorry no to Apple DRM. Ration for this section: 9/10
VIDEO PERFORMANCE:
In the beginning I mentioned that Creative Zen supports 16.7 million colors yet the vIdeos look quite bothched up and washed out on it’s screen. Except WMP 11 others require conversion to a WMV format, which definitely is a spot of bother. In spite of the massive color support the vIdeos lack shapness, clearity and vividness.

FILE TRANSFER:
Excellent capability only that you have to confirm to Creative Zen’s quite stringent size factor. This part should have been looked into these days the most preferred resolution is is 640x480 pix. Simple drag and drop transfer option exist via Windows Explorer but please keep and eye on the size factor.

Inspite of the low bit rate the voice recordings (they are WAV format) are exceptionnaly clear. No hiccups with the FM mode. Even weaker stations are okay, the mic is handy with adjustable sensitivity.
MY MOST ANNOYING FACTOR:
It comes with SanDisk Sansa E 299 series and its start up is annoyingly slow. The buttons sort of hangs, it just won’t respond-it makes me a razing maniac sometimes, but the audio is so good it sooths me down.
The menu part has gone through changes but it does not affect me, because Creative Zen is the first Creative product I’m loving and using on regular basis..
OVERALL RATING:8/10. That, I think is excellent. I would have given it 9/10 but for my most annoying factor and vid mess up.

It really is a extremely tiresome to have to convert videos before watching on the Zen. I've been on holiday twice when I've put stuff on this to watch and forgot to convert and then kicked myself when I realised I forgot LOL!
