Start of the dynasty
We are leaving the shoulder-pads at home this time, but at least Creative has made an effort with this Krystal brand as it looks and feels glitzy and favours a chic manner which would not look out of place in Joan Collins handbag, or on her zimmer-frame. The Krystal screams as a perfect attire attachment for the ‘oil-barrens ball’ and a spritzer twist that now has become extinct along with John Forsyths blue rinses, yes a an actor actually did have blue rinses, shocking isn’t it! - the Kystal has a much softer edge to all of the Creative MP3 Player predecessors, as many before this are as subtle as a sledge-hammer; similar to Todd Carty on ice. Highly entertaining worth their value but lacked that finesse that makes it ‘eye-candy’. Is still no closer through brand awareness as any iPod, as the big bulbous digital navigation screen shatters the impression that it is pure finesse, well it is a Creative product, you can’t have everything. The features are sound and there are a few surprises that would make a difference when it comes to making a buying decision.
This hand-held device resembles a pebble that correctly glistens around it’s smooth contours carefully crafted and well devised proto-type looks like a market capturing winner. 2009, could be ground breaking for Creatives’ proto-type model-makers as they seem to have at last developed a commercially rewarding concept to the Portable Media Player market. Not all that shines is golden, but in this case the Krystal is in fact not all just cleverly crafted, but carries features that deems well endorsed for future generations, which other manufacturers just may adopt because Creative Labs have done their marketing homework and have listened to their critics and implemented a few of there suggestions in the Krystal.
Creative Zen Krystal
The Kyrstal is the 2009’s answer to beating the bulge. Highly wanted to any sports enthusiast who wants to relish a great sound as well as how many calories or steps they have made during the session at the gym or on a daily working day basis. Creative has made it possible to have portable entertainment while on the move, and is one of the first PMP brands to envelope the need of relishing physical training attributes to simply listening to portable MP3 media. I believe it to be an excellent spots attachment attire that should only improve the nations fitness. It is Creatives’ attempt to being Jamie Oliver, of course without the ‘pukka’ rubbish that is spat out of his mouth in regular intervals. What the question remains is – will this model compete with the iPod? – the early signs are good but as yet the number of sales are still not at the same level during the last few months into 2009. – The main fall-down point is the ‘can’t miss’ digital OLED screen that is surprisingly a monochrome, and is also only 0.7” squared. Small isn’t always classed as a bad move as I like the stylized visionary visual concept; then again, it will take a little getting use to if your use to a bigger navigation screen. Those of you who are aware of the Stone Plus series of PMP’s the Krystal has similar traits that via features claim to be of no difference in a few cases such as the navigation and settings and media format usages.
The Krystal also comes with a couple of stopwatch games that simulates the old Nokia game ‘ladders’. These are free and comes with the package, they’re fun and rather addictive, so be warned. The file browser doesn’t carry the same weight as the more accustomed Creative MP3 browsers, as it is a bit warn-out and looks like a ‘has been’ and then gone application. The normal features such as the voice recognition option and FM Radio are available and all media files ending in MP3 and WMA formats are readable on this portable player. But last of all if your ready for a body crunching work-out schedule this would definitely be your friend as it counts your calories as you burn them off and counts your steps; however, it doesn’t count the number of calories you scoff during the day, now if it did that that would be an impressive piece of technology.
What do you get in the deal?
Creative ZEN Krystal Pouch Wrist strap with lens cleaning cloth Earphones USB cable Quick Start Leaflet
4GB of Krystal memory
The storage space is more than sufficient to play over 20000 MP3 audio tracks. The transfer rates are fast due to the fast USB transfer fast - track Windows music browser software. What is a noticeable difference is that it is not an ipod. There are not so many features nor as stylish and slick. Naturally, there is no iTune extravaganza, with freebies and membership options that Apples ipod do include. Available online from Creatives Hong Kong website – 70.00 $ - delivery to allocated address will be made within 28 days of purchase, not including packaging and postage. Very good value for money
