The Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB White is a small, compact and stylish mp3 player. It is originally available in white, but can be bought in 10 different colours. These colours include the very popular red, green, yellow, blue, black and pink.
It measures just over 1 cm in depth (thickness), 6.6 cm in length and 3.4 cm in width making it a very slim mp3 player. It weighs just 34 g, which is virtually nothing and is a very big advantage as it is so light you will not even be able to notice that you are carrying anything at all. This can also be a disadvantage as you may leave the mp3 player in your pocket (without earphones) and it may drop and you will surely not even notice.
Creative say they are giving you 1 GB of internal flash memory, but in actual fact it is under 1 GB. 993 MB of internal memory is provided, which is not a lot less
than 1 GB (1024 MB). But with the extra memory you could fit up to 10 extra songs. Some people may say you are not getting what you pay for. But that is not a major issue for most users. With the 993 MB of provided memory you can hold up to 250 songs, largely depending on the average size of each mp3 file. Most mp3 files are averagely 3-4 MB in size, which will definitely make it possible for this mp3 player to hold 250 songs.
The sound output is stereo which is standard for most mp3 players. Stereo is the reproduction of sound, using two or more independent audio channels. This simply means that two individual speakers work simultaneously to produce a very good and realistic audio output. The mp3 player has a USB 2.0 interface, which is the newer and more efficient USB connection. With the USB 1.1 interface being the older and less efficient.
The built-in LCD display has a pixel resolution of 96 x 32. The display comes in only a blue colour, with the disadvantage being that other display colours are not available. There are 4 preset equalizer settings, the 4 equalizer factory presets are: Rock, Jazz, Pop, Classic. Each one adjusts the treble boost, the bass and the voice to suit the chosen equalizer settings.
The supported audio formats are: WMA, Audible, MP3 and protected WMA (DRM). The mp3 also has a built-in voice recorder, which encodes all recordings into the mp3 format. This basically means that everything you record is converted into the mp3 format, thus making it compatible with programs that allow you to modify and edit mp3 files. The recorded files will obviously take up memory, thus decreasing the amount of songs the mp3 player can hold.
Another feature on this mp3 player is the in-builtFM radio tuner with 32 preset FM radio stations. The FM frequency range is FM: 87.5 - 108 MHz. This simply means that any radio stations within the two frequencies will be picked up by the mp3 players integrated radio receiver. The mp3 players maximum sound output is 111 db (decibels). With better quality earphones this can be increased, but even the best earphones will not increase the sound output above 120 decibels as anything above that is dangerous and can cause damage to your ear drums.
Within the package you get 1 earphone, 1 USB, there is also a neck strap and a CD containing the required software. The mp3 player will run for a maximum of 18 hours, if the mp3 player is only used to listen to music. However, listening to the radio can further reduce the listening time to 12 hours as extra battery power is required in order to receive the radio signals.
The requires Operating systems include all of Microsoft's Operating systems including Vista. In the specification a mention of the Vista Operating System may not be included, but with the mp3 player having a USB interface you will be able to transfer mp3 files into the mp3 folder via a drag and drop method. Windows Vista may not let you install the mp3 players software as Vista was released long after the launch of the Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB mp3 player. Although you have the option of opening the mp3 players file location from 'My Computer' and dragging and dropping the mp3 files manually.
Overall, the Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 GB white is a stylish and slim mp3 player, which really gives a good fashion statement. However, it is still very pricey considering the range of features. I would recommend this mp3 player to potential buyers on the basis of reliability and style. But if you are the type who wants good value for money, then this is not the mp3 player for you. You can purchase mp3 players with 4 x the memory and better overall features for prices not significantly higher than the asking price of this mp3 player. For e.g. (The 4GB iPod Nano).
