Recently it was my girlfriends birthday, and having heard her talking about wanting an mp3 player, I decided to get her one as a present. I looked at the obiocu Ipods etc but couldn't afford anything quite so luxurious, instead I took a look at the offerings from Creative.
I have been using Creavtive products for years in my PCs and was aware that they were normally good quality and decent value for money. Having narrowed down my choices to those which I could comfortably afford I started looking into what the differences were etc, and this one stood out.
A nice small size but big enough that you know you've got it with you and you won't forever be losing it in pockets. Really nice to look at, cassy and simple. And plenty of storage space for anyone but the most dedicated music listener. This all seemed like a great package.
The other thing I liked about it was the fact that it had a display, some of the other cheaper mp3 players either don't have displays or don't have backlit displays, and I have found that this makes them harder to operate and harder to browse through your music.
I decided upon this player and found it at a great price.
My girlfriend was very pleased with it and now uses it everyday.
I have also used it and must say I am very impressed with the sound quality, much better than various other players I have listened to in the same price bracket.
If you want to use the Creative software to transfer files to the player, it installs nice and simply and works effortlessly. Transfer times are reasonably short and everything seems to work fine.
There are a couple of slight downsides. Firstly, it only comes with a USb charger, which is fine most of the time s it can be charged while the computer is on which it more often than not is. But when we go away on holiday charging could be a problem, though I believe you can get a mains adapter separately.
Secondly, it has frozen up a couple of times which has left it playing and not responding to any button pushes etc. This is easily solved by using the reset button, (without losing any of your music), however you need to have something small enough, ie a paper clip, to do so. I got my girlfriend the keyring holder for the player, which fits really nicely. SHe just keeps a paper clip in there for any times when it might freeze up, though it has only done so twice since March and she has used it every day.
On the whole a geat little player, with decent amounts of space, very easy to use and great sound, what more could you want for the money.
