Advantages: Great sound, good capacity, good battery life, easy to use Disadvantages: Larger and heavier then some MP3 players, not overly attractive
...mainly a review for the Creative Zen but I will include a basic specs list and description of each of the competitors to help you weigh things up. Of course this review assumes that you are interested in a 20 gig MP3 player and that you are willing to spend £150 or more. If not, then this review will probably not be of much use to you. WHAT IS AN MP3 PLAYER?
For the rest of this review, I will refer to technical terms to keep things a bit more brief, ... ...review proper. CREATIVE ZEN: YOU'VE GOT THE LOOK
The Zen is probably not the most attractive MP3 player there is. At least, not in my opinion. I do think that the ipod for example is a fair amount more attractive. That said, the Zen doesn't look too bad either. Basically it is white in colour (you can see the shape in the picture above) with silver slim buttons that run down each side and a smaller circular button in the middle, just below the screen. ...

Advantages: Massive battery life | Holds up to twice as many tracks as the iPod Disadvantages: Supplied case is naff
...to the conclusion that the Creative Zen Touch with 20GB Hard Drive was the best value for money. So lets see if my conclusion was right or whether I'd bought a dud….
---First Impressions (The Packaging)---
Now if I was going by very first impressions I would say that the packaging was a bad start. The player wasn't packed in a nice stylish box, but was actually in that sealed plastic that needs to be hacked open with a pair of scissors. I personally ... ...lifespan. Once charged Creative claim the battery will last anything up to 32 hours, but I really would take this with a pinch of salt, as they only claim this life when using very low quality MP3s. Personally I think their 24 hour claim for 128kbps MP3s is much nearer the mark. My player is used for several hours a day, and only needs charging weekly, to me this means the battery life is exceptional and many hours longer than any of the competitors.

Advantages: Great battery life, easy to use and attractive design Disadvantages: Heavy, bulky and the accompanying software isn't up to much.
...and recently bought myself a Creative Zen Touch, on the advice of my ex-boyfriend who assured me that they were the best on the market. As I was determined to get anything other than an iPod, I agreed to try it out.
So what is my verdict?
Let's cover the basics of the Zen Touch. Creative has managed to secure itself a pretty good reputation in the MP3 field, and while Apple still reigns surpreme other companies such as Creative and IRiver are finally ... ...CD instead. There is some Creative Zen software you can install, but there is also Windows Media Player 10 whihc most people use instead. I found WMP easy to use, so I've stuck with that.
I have absolutely no problems with the sound quality or the volume or anything - in that respects the Zen Touch is an excellent machine. The sound is clear and sharp - in fact I've picked up background lyrics on songs I didn't even realise had background lyrics! ...

Advantages: Fall resistance, sound quality, device is easy to use. Disadvantages: Song transfer is agonizingly difficult, software is a pain, poor customer service
...multiple times. So, to the creative zen's credit, it is built like a tank and probably can sustain a lot more damage than other media players. Rest assured, I am much more careful with my ipod 80 gb, and have purchased a plastic case for it. Let me first go over the positives of this device:
It has a great battery life. Whilst not quite the 24 hours that the advertisements suggest, it will last well over 12, which is much better than the ipod.
... ...first time I bought a creative zen. I actually bought two, not one. The first one absolutely refused to transfer music and the software was really confusing, so I returned it for being defective and exchanged it for a new one. To my relief, I was able to transfer one thousand songs to it, but I had not selected my whole library (at the time, only 3500 songs) because I wanted to test it out. Well, this was a big mistake on my part, because it would ...

The music library option contains all the music you have loaded onto the player sectioned alphabetically by artist, album, or genre (your choice). The now playing option is fairly obvious ... ...upload your songs into the Creative mediasource player's music library. From there, when you connect your player via usb you can just drag and drop the songs from the music library to the player and vice versa. You can also create playlists and rip cd's. The only disadvantage I have found when using this player is that sometimes the software doesn't detect the player but usually just reconnecting the player solves this problem.
