Hi guys. I mainly write reviews about music but the odd product I have around the house might get reviewed every now and then. I am currently training to be an opera singer so anyone with the same interest get in touch.

After a long period of decision making on whether or not to splash out and get an ipod. I decided against it. I started looking into different products and brands other than mac and decided that, although it would be nice to have 30 or even 80 gigabytes of memory, I didn't actually need it.
Whilst on my travels on my quest to find an alternative to the pod I stumbled across this nice little product. What caught my eye at first was that it was obviously in the style of an ipod but with small differences. I decided to look at the specs involved and I was quite impressed. It boast 2000 song capacity, with in builtflash memory and it also doubles up as a voice recorder. The brand name was also familiar to me from my sound software on my comp so I new it would have a least some reliability. All this information in mind I decided to make a mental note of the catchy and rememberable name "Creative Zen V 2" and look at other similar products. In the end I ended up purchasing this machine for £89.99 just because of the look ( in my opinion more stylish than the ipod) and the price difference.
One thing that surprised me was that, although I assumed the 2000 song capacity was based on 3-4 minute pop songs, I still managed to get around that number of opera songs on there (they can often last for ten minutes). A friend has since informed me that it is because the sound on the opera music is of lower quality and does not take up as much space as a re-mastered/remixed to the max, pop song (I don't know if this is true or not if anyone can confirm please do). So the product has exceeded my expectations in that respect.
One thing that I am not very happy with, however, is the voice recorder. I started trying to use it quite a lot when I first got it but the quality of the playback is not great and it is very complicated to use. It's not just like a press and go dictaphone, there are many different menus to flick through that are handy for listing music but not great for click and go recording. I also believe that it helps to rapidly drain the battery. This was a secondary usage for the product though so I am not too disappointed. There is also no built in radio but that doesn't bother me I have one on my phone.
The headphones that come with the device are quite good quality and I have not had any problems with them yet. The sound quality is very very good when listening to tracks and it is also very user friendly when you come to get your tracks from the computer on to the device.
All in all a very nice little product that does everything I need from a mp3 player.

(+) Av Output to plug to a TV, built-in speakers, easy to use. Come with very good earphones (-) Does not come with power supply (easy to charge from the PC though), av cable is sold separately
I agree with you on Ipods, not worth the money if you don't need the storage. And apple limit you to only be able to use your itunes tracks on ipods, so are effectively a customer for life whether you want to be or not. Kenny
