I wanted this 'miracle cream' for such a long time. I certainly didn't need any persuassion from the over enthusiastic smooth faced sales girl in Harvey Nicks, my mind was already made up. I'd been propelled there that day on a sea of guilt. I was about to spend £135.00 on a jar of face cream but I was having it come hell or highwater. I'd already done all the research and read the obligatory reviews, some full of praise affirming 'the miracle', others denouncing it completely. Honestly, neither of which had any bearing on my decision to go out and buy it. No, the thing that made me buy this product was pure and simply the exclusivity of it, the fact I knew it was bloomin' expensive, and endorsed and apparantly loved by celebrities worldwide, which in turn gave them the clear, smooth, glowing gorgeous skin. The skin I want, I thought this would be the elusive cream that would melt away all my bad skin days and leave me waking up each morning with skin so beautiful and flawless I would look like Da Vinci had airbrushed me himself! I am so deluded, easily led and gullible, I know, but I fell for it hook, line and skincare...
The packaging is definately not consistent with the price tag. Ok, the green bag and box it comes in are alright, and the actual pot is unusually heavy but the logo on the pot is so cheap looking, I told my husband it cost £4.99 from the chemist and he believed me! I should have spent £4.99 but on a pot of Nivea because Creme De La Mer is Nivea's more expensive snobby twin.
The actual product itself sat on top of my skin for what felt like an eternity, I was too afraid to put it on just before getting into bed and wasting a fivers worth on my pillowcase so I started washing my face at about 6pm so I could really get my money's worth. The idea is you're supposed to rub a pea sized amount in between clean fingertips to release the 'miracle broth' (I'm such a sucker) unfortunately in reality the only miracle is that there are other people like me prepared to pay such a huge premium in their quest for the holy grail of perfect skin.
Would I buy this overpriced, overhyped product again? Of course not. Would I spend the same amount on another so-called miracle? You've got to have faith!
