Andrew 'Freddy' Flintoff
Review of Andrew Flintoff by ManUtdBoi

Advantages: national hero christened Freddy
Disadvantages: non-existent now

...and ball. Name: Andrew Flintoff Born: 6th December 1977 (Lancashire) Batting: Right-hand batsman Bowling: Right-arm fast-medium Whereas he used to get out frequently by skying a loose shot, he now plays with a careness to his game, rather than just smacking it into row Z. His form for Lancashire has gone largely unnoticed because most people only jump on the bandwagon when England are doing well, whereas I personally havn't missed an England one-day ...
...dominating the world game than any footballer ever had, so lets hope that he keeps a cool head and stays around for a long time, because Andrew 'Freddy' Flintoff is quite simply - THE BEST ! (will add too at later date just want to see original response) thankyou ... Read review

Not such a smart Alec
Review of Alec Stewart by davidbuttery

Advantages: Scores very fast, keeping has improved, fitness
Disadvantages: Poor captaincy, tries to take on too much at once

So, Alec Stewart has - finally - been exonerated by Paul Condon's corruption investigation, for want of any real evidence against him; an unsurprising, indeed inevitable, outcome given the unwillingness of Indian bookmaker MK Gupta to come forward. Of course, it could well be argued that Stewart's less than co-operative attitude toward Lord Condon's team leaves the player with only himself to blame for the interminable slowness of proceedings. But ...
...Most judges would concede that Alec Stewart has not been the best wicket-keeper in England for much, perhaps all, of his Test career - Jack Russell probably holds that distinction. Yet such has been the desire, almost the obsession, from the ECB (and the TCCB before it) for an all-rounder that his place has rarely been in any real doubt. After all, the ideal side would consist of six batsmen, three seamers, two spinners and a keeper. Total twelve ... Read review

DAZZER
Review of Darren Gough by Chris_Padden

Advantages: Great player, and a personality to match
Disadvantages: Could be blamed for not touring

Darren Gough has got the reputation as a great fast bowler, and a personality to match. He is fiercely proud of his home county of Yorkshire, but often controversy is never far away from like, like his blunt refusal to tour India. Gough is enjoying a quiet winter off, while England sweat in India, but he will be back. Darren Gough was born in Barnsley on the 18th September 1970. He has not forgotten where he came from, loyal and determined. He has ...
...In the one day games Darren has a very impressive record, though in recent times has suffered as selectors play around with different tests and one-day sides. On his one day debut Gough took a wicket in his first over, since then he has taken just under 150 wickets, at an average of 24.9 in 95 games. His batting is poor in one day, his highest ever score is 45, and his average stands only just above 10 runs. In test level, Gough is one of the best ... Read review

Marcus Trescothick
Review of Marcus Trescothick by thespurs

Advantages: Is a key player for England
Disadvantages: Sometimes gives his wicket away

Marcus Trescothick - Test Career Marcus Trescothick has been a superb find for English cricket. He has come a long way from his days at county side Somerset. He has been an integral part of the success England have recently enjoyed. He made his debut against the West Indies at Old Trafford in August of 2000. He is playing in his 50th test this week against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Since his debut has been an ever present for England ...
...after reaching their century. Marcus has a bright future ahead of him and should hold onto his place in the England side for a long while. There is no reason why the maestro shouldn't go on to play 100 tests for England. His record is very impressive for an opening batsmen. His average is one that he should feel very proud of and should look to build upon in the future. He has also shown that he is a capable captain, should England require his services ... Read review

A Very Good Opener
Review of Michael Atherton by ashford

Advantages: Gritty. Technically Good.
Disadvantages: Got out too cheaply at times

...has recently been confirmed that Michael Atherton, the Lancastrian opening batsman and former English captain, has played his very last test match for his country. How can we judge him and his contribution for England over the last twelve years ? The gritty opener has played in some 117 tests for his country and scored around 7,625 runs in test cricket. This,I believe, is the fourth highest number of runs scored by an English batsman in tests. He also ...
...40 half centuries. The former captain of Manchester Grammer School, Mike made his debut for Lancashire in 1987. Two years later he was in the England team. In assessing Mike Atherton one can mention that he has been a very determined player.Mike technically is very gifted, although arguably he lacks the flair of Gavaskar, Graham Gooch or some of the great West Indian openers of the past. He has gone out to win. The Lancastrian has a rather dour, gritty, personality,no ... Read review
