Shakespeare has finally left the building

Advantages: Great Jokes, Characters and performances
Disadvantages: Not around for much longer

One of the best loved shows running in London?s West End bows out tonight after 8 years. Treading the boards for the last time tonight (April 3rd 2005) at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly, are the Reduced Shakespeare Company. These three American Comedic actors have performed to full-house audiences for 8 glorious years, making their show the most successful and longest running comedy in the West End. Under the premise of being able to earn enough money to pay for a ticket to make their way back to America, the RSC (not to be confused with the (real) Royal Shakespeare Company) have over the years adapted and added shows to their repertoire. What started out as the Complete Works of Shakespeare (being - ever so slightly - abridged into 90 minutes) running a few nights a week, has been extended to include the Complete History ...

Bibi's Criterion - La Dolce Vita

Advantages: Fantastic menu, great venue
Disadvantages: No reservations for small groups

Without wanting to sound overly keen, this is the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. I first heard about Bibi's when it was on Greek Street, and have returned several times to its new haunt on Criterion Place. The experience at the old Bibi's was fantastic, and has only improved in its new setting. Walking through the front door is like walking back in time. Surrounded by plush extravagant mirrors, pillars and black marble floors, it looks like something out of a 1920's film set. The cocktail bar off to the right is a great place to start your evening, offering a wide selection of cocktails and bar snacks. My favourite cocktail, a Singapore Sling, wasn't on the menu. However, a quick word with the waitress and a perfectly made cocktail arrived at my table in no time. The food is spectacular. There is no ...

ONLY FOR THIOSE WITH A SENSE OF HUMOUR

Advantages: Hilarious and extremely original shows
Disadvantages: none whatsoever, however if you are William Shakespeare, this may not be to your liking!

The Criterion Theatre is a second home to 3 Americans who have taken it upon themselves to become the second RSC. But with a twist, not the Royal Shakespeare Company but the Reduced Shakespeare Company. These 3 men have taken the works of Shakespeare and taken it to the depths of ridicule. There first play "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare - abridged" all of this literary great's plays in 90 minutes blended together with a little pinch of hilarity. And if thats not enough, then they do it backwards. Some prior knowledge of Shakespeares plays will help to fully enjoy these mens work, however it is not an absolute necessity. Their second play "The History of America," again in 90 minutes, from Columbus to present day. Also as amusing. The group also have a new play out "I Love my Willy" - as an avid fan of this groups work ...
