A few months ago I was lucky enough to be able to go away for a long weekend with some of my friends. We had hired a lovely cottage in the countryside and as a couple of the girls had brought their dogs along we also went on lots of beautiful walks. I had brought along some flat shoes but I noticed that a couple of my friends had a certain style of shoe on, one that I had not seen before and when I asked them about them ,they explained to me that it was a ‘Croc ‘ shoe. I had seen a couple of adverts for this shoe in magazines but that was about it but after hearing my friends rave at home comfortable they were I decided that I would invest in a pair. I often walk over to my parents of a weekend so I thought having some shoes as opposed to my flip flops to walk over in would be great.
A couple of my friends had ordered their shoes off the internet but I wanted to try before I brought so I went into town and found some in my local shoe shop ‘Brantano Footwear’. I paid about £35.00 for the shoe which in today’s prices and for a brand name is not a bad price in my opinion. Crocs seem to have taken off in a big way over here and I have noticed more and more people wearing them. What shocked me was the amount of styles that Crocs offered, there was everything from a trainer to a wedge heals but with my sensible head on I decided to buy a flat shoe and the style was the Mary Jane.
As I mentioned I paid about £35.00 for the Mary Jane Croc. This style is completely flat and is really similar in style to the ‘classic’ croc but the as an extra the Mary Jane has a strap over the foot and a more rounded toe with less holes in it. Crocs advertise the style as being ‘sporty yet totally chic’. I don’t think this is a shoe that you could really wear with anything else other than cropped trousers, shorts or possible jeans. In y opinion it really would not go with something like a skirt or dress as it has to casual a look.
The shoes itself is made of rubber and is surprisingly comfortable. I have size 8 shoes but when I was in my shoe store there was lots of sizes available, I think they ranged from 3 to 9 and seeing as this is now such a big brand I am sure that you would be available to order the shoes. I also find the shoes to be a really good width as well as the size being good. You put your foot in and there is no real pinching when you put your foot into the shoe and even when your feet get warm and start to swell slightly the shoes feel really comfortable. I have found the shoe to be really easy to wear in. I first wore the shoes around the house as I did not want to embark on a long journey and to find that they rubbed but after having them on for a couple of hours they felt really comfortable.
The colour of the shoe that I have is a blue / black colour and it is also available in white, mushroom, lilac and navy. Even though I liked the look of the shoe in the white colour I thought it may get dirty a lot quicker so went for the darker shade. When they do get dirty I just wipe the shoe down with a cloth and some warm water.
The shoes are non –slip and have great grips on them. Seeing as I am a slightly clumsy person the fact that these are non slip is great! They are also not too heavy on your foot so they are really easy to walk around in.
In summary, I would have no hesitation in recommending these shoes. They are really comfortable and that is the most important thing in my opinion. I also like that they are a reasonable price and that they come in a range of styles. I am certainly very pleased with my purchase
