Crone Corkhill are a quality recruitment and temping agency in the West End and City areas of London. They mainly deal with secretarial and office admin positions for blue chip companies, consultancies and other employers who demand high standards.

I first approached the company early in 1999 for temporary/part-time positions, having recently temped in the not-for-profit sector. Crone were very courtious and invited me to an interview. The interview was straight-forward, and as I was looking for admin work, I did the usual word-processing tests.

To my surprise, at the end of the interview I was immediately offered work in central London, to start that afternoon. That employer has since taken myself and another Crone temp on permanently.

Another aspect that surprised me was that when I had a couple of weeks without work, before I was taken on permanently by my current employer, Crone eagerly found me work. This is contrary to virtually of my experience of temping agencies, and is a real plus as far as I am concerned.

Crone like to work at the higher end of the office admin market, and as a result, they offer good hourly rates to their temps. They do, however, expect typists to have at least 50wpm. Another bonus is that their staff regularly keep in contact with you. There are also some limited staff incentive schemes.

I have recently heard rumours that Crone are not quite as good as they once were, but I expect that they are still among the best in London.
