Advantages Advantages Everything you could wish for in a James Patterson book

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Absolutely none

First off can I just say - another fantastic read from the master of the thriller genre! I have an immense love of reading and James Patterson is undoubtedly my favourite author and I am pleased to say that 'CROSS' doesn't disappoint. For all you James Patterson fans out there you will, I'm sure, know who Alex Cross is. However, for all you JP virgins, here is a summary: The Alex Cross series is James Patterson's first and probably most popular. Alex Cross is a police detective/psychologist who has, in previous books, worked for the Washington DC Police Force and for the FBI and at times has ... more

James patterson has to be one of the most prolific suspense writers around at the moment. I have read virtually all his books and each one has had me on the edge of my seat and not being able to put the book down. The latest I have read of his - Cross - is just as good as all the others and certainly I had my heart in my mouth at times when I was reading it! The central character in the Novel is Aex Cross - hence the title. Readers of James Patterson will know that this is a character who features in a number of his novels. He lives in Washington with his young family and his elderly ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Story

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Alex Cross is James Patterson's trademark hero. Despite going on to write many other novels this is the character we associate most with the author. Over the last 15 or so books (and several films) we have come to know the detective turned FBI agent well as he tracks down serial killers across America. CROSS is the latest novel and one that I expected to be the last. Throughout the previous books we have learnt that one thing haunts Alex and adds to the emotional edge of the stories, that is the still unsolved murder of his wife Maria, which took place before the first novel. This motivating ... more

Advantages Advantages Crackling Pace with twists and turns all the way!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Really a tag on to other stories with Alex Cross

I've always been a fan of James Patterson; I find the short chapters and unexpected diversions to the plotline engaging and easy to read. I received a hardback copy of "Cross" for my birthday and quickly decided to open it up one drizzly Saturday afternoon. The story picks up with Alex Cross, who regulars will know is a well established character for Patterson, a hot shot psychologist who solves grim and nasty murders using his powers of profiling and intuition. Previously Cross had left the FBI for the sake of his family after his wife was murdered and is happily setting up his own therapy ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick fast paced thriller

Disadvantages Disadvantages not easy to put down

This was the first James Patterson novel I read and have gone on to read 2 further books by this author. All of Patterson's books are delivered in short, intense bursts, chapters lasting, in some cases, only for a page or two. This makes for a rivetting read that is difficult to put down. Alex Cross is a recurring character in Patterson's world and in this outing he his on the hunt for a mafia hitman whom he believes was responsible for his wife's murder. With many twists and turns the gritty story moves along at break neck speed. Fans of crime/cop novels will love it and once you are a fully ... more
