It comes in a 470g handy plastic bottle that stands on its lid upside down, handy because I find myself turning the other sauces upside down to get the last bits out of the bottle, tight I know but it works. The plastic is see through so you can see the sauce inside, the lid is a flip top lid with quite a large whole to get the sauce out but it will not escape until you give it a squeeze because it has one of them plastic things inside with a cross on it that doesn't let anything out until squeezed, I'm not sure if they have a name for this thing but it does stop the drips too and keeps the lid nice and clean.

Now for the taste test. On its own it is quite vinegary but that is the reason I do not like brown sauce, for all of you that love the stuff it probably is not so vinegary for you, I find it quite rich and tangy, almost spicy but tangy is a good way of describing it maybe even peppery, its quite thick for brown sauce, the stuff I have had in the past usually runs on my plate and gets where I do not want it, but this stays put.
This has no artificial colours, preservatives or flavours in, it is low in fat and contains Barley Gluten. It is suitable for vegetarians.
I would recommend this brown sauce to any one but if you are a fan of daddies or HP I'm sure this one won't beat it but you never know, so if you have tried it or are going to let me know what you think.
I can just imagine this sauce going really well with sausages and even scrambled egg on toast.

Advantages: It was on special offer, Disadvantages: None really, but i just prefer HP!
I saw this product on a gondala end in my local Sainsbury's and it was on offer at half price - about 80p i think. Now i use HP brown sauce like i need it to keep me alive - i absolutely love the stuff!
However, i was pretty impressed when Branston launched their baked beans earlier this year i thought it only fair to try their brown sauce. I bought a bottle and took it home - keeping it well away from the HP sauce so that it didn't get jealous ... ...I buttered some think white bread, squeezed an uncontrolled amount of sauce over the bread, folded the bread over and sunk my mouth around the bread.......
Firstly, this is a pretty big plastic bottle with one of those non return valves at the bottom - another bottle that sits upside down! Well, maybe it is me but i tried to squeeze out about a £2 coin size of sauce and found that i actually squeezed out closer to 25% of the content of the bottle! ...

Advantages: Tangy, Cheap and Strong. Disadvantages: Not very thick.
The specially designed lid prevents mess from occurring around the outside of it, however it is difficult to aim and extract the correct quantity of sauce. The sauce is tangy, but is a little runny, especially on chips and for dipping. The sauce's colour is very enticing as it is dark and looks better than other brands. It also smells rather mouth watering! The price of this sauce is considerably lower than that of other, more well known brands yet ...

Advantages: familiar nice and spicy taste Disadvantages: can get a bit sickly
I was first introduced to Branston Pickle as a kid when my mum would smother it all over cheese butties for my pack lunch, in fact she did it so often that I eventually tired of the taste altogether. In fact it must have been a good ten years since I'd eaten the stuff, and then I was in tesco recently and there was an offer on the new 'Branston Pickle Smooth', it was less than a quid! Well, what can I say except I can't resist an offer in Tesco's so it landed in my trolley in a second.
As soon as I got home I unpacked the shopping. I studied the bottle of what was probably 'Crosse and Blackwells' most famous recipe - Branston Pickle. The thought of it being smooth somehow made it more appealing (the kind of HP BrownSauce urge you get for Bacon Butties!). The container is a modern, 410g squeezy bottle and the label is the familiar ...
