Crown Connect-it Fan Heater ES140

I've had my Connect-It ES140 Fan Heater for a good 5 years or so now and have found it to be one of the most reliable little fan heaters I've ever had the need for.

This handy little fan heater comes with 2 heat settings; warm and hot as well as a fan only setting which means you can use it as a fan in the summer months too if required.

*What and Why?*

The fan heater is very lightweight and comes with a long enough cable so you can easily direct it to wherever you need a bit of extra heat. I find it quite convenient if I don’t want to put on the central heating. Say I’m the only one home; it’s not necessary to have my whole home heated, so I pop this on for a short while to direct a bit of heat my way. I have to say it heats up a room very quickly and more often than not I find using it for 10-15 minutes can easily heat up a whole room as long as the door is closed.

I love the fact that I can use this fan heater either laid flat on the floor or on its side – both methods are equally effective. Having the fan heater upright is quite effective when using this to cool a room in summer.

It might only have an output of 2Kw but it’s pretty effective nonetheless. As I said earlier, I’ve had this little fan heater for at least 5 years and am pretty pleased that it has outlasted its warranty period by 4 years already and showing no signs of dying on me. Nor does it show any signs of aging. It’s not a silent fan heater but it doesn’t make a horrendous noise like many other fan heaters I’ve experienced over the years (at work for example, we have a horrid fan heater we’ve had to use for a while due to some heating problems and we can’t even have it on when making phone calls as it’s so loud)!

My Connect-It fan heater is quite clever as well in that it has built in overheat protection which gives me peace of mind that it’s not likely to blow up from overuse nor melt itself if it gets too hot. I’ve not often left this fan heater on long enough for it to get to the stage where it switches itself off but I was curious a few times to see if it would actually turn itself off and was pleasantly surprised when it did. It does give you that extra bit of piece of mind to know that equipment like this is reliable enough to turn itself off in case you forget to do so yourself.

The heater itself is mostly colour with a black grill on the front. It has vents on the top and bottom when this is laid flat with enough height to let the heat escape without me worrying about my carpet getting singed. There’s also a handy little red light indicator to let you know the fan heater is on, in case you forget to switch it off.

*What’s the Damage Guv-Nor?*

I bought this is Wilkinson quite some time ago now and recall it was considerably less than £20 at the time of purchase and came with a 12 month warranty. I understand it's still being sold by them for around £14 these days. Amazon is selling the same item for over £20 (at the time of writing).

I’m happy to give the Connect-IT Fan Heater a top score of 5 out of 5. It does exactly what I expect it to and has never yet let me down and as an added bonus I can use it as a fan to cool down in the summer months too.
