Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for
There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads?
What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?.
LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED
Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90.
Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace ...

Advantages: Reasonably priced food and drink in central Manchester Disadvantages: Horrible toilets
I work just down the street from The Crown and have been a frequent visitor for over 12 years. Since my first visit it has transformed from a grotty side street pub that to its current guise of more up-market lounge bar.

On entering the front doors of the Crown you immediately see the long bar, covering the whole of the back wall, which is directly opposite the doors. To the right is a section of high bar tables, a couple of slot machines and access to the toilets, to the left are the comfy sofas, behind which is the main food seating area, which consists of booths and small tables.

Advantages: Loads of features Disadvantages: Text can be small
The MotoLivn D802 is a DECT cordless phone pack from Motorolla. It comes with two handsets [there is a D801 which has one handset].
Cordless phones have a transmitter [or basestation] that plugs into phone socket and allows the handsets to make the calls. The handsets have rechargeable batteries and need to be plugged into a charging station to be powered. One difference between this and other cordless phones I've used is that here the basestation itself is not a charging station. This allows you to position the handsets separately to the basestation, which may be an advantage depending on the layout of the phone sockets in your home [or work, I suppose].
The D802 has lots of features, some of which I've not seen on a home phone. Whether they are useful or not will depend on personal preference.
Years ago I used to be quite good ...
