I was in acute need of a camera bag and I also longed for a laptop backpack so that I could get rid of the ordinary laptop case I have used so far and which makes longer trips carrying the laptop really really uncomfortable.

I've had my eye on Crumpler since quite a while, but since their stuff isn't the cheapest, I had been waiting for a good reason to invest my money into one of their beauties and that has come just now. I was in acute need of a camera bag and I also longed for a laptop backpack so that I could get rid of the ordinary laptop case I have used so far and which makes longer trips carrying the laptop really really uncomfortable.
I've got the redblack with grey lining version of Crumpler's Pretty Boy XL Back Pack as I didn't like either the black or green one and the supercute white one would probably get quite dirty as I intend to use it also as a travel bag on my holiday and a sportsbag, too. So in fact I was going for a rather multifunctional mid-size backpack and I'm sure I have got the best product I could have got.
Material Crumpler uses chicken-tex fabric, which is dust and rainproof, it can be cleaned easily and despite being quite light-weight, it's durable, which is one of the reasons Crumpler give a life-time warranty on this product. All the main pouches and pockets as well as walls are padded for extra safety and comfy carrying. It goes without saying that the bag is kinda balanced and keeps its shape even when empty, so it doesn't feel like you carried a dead fish on your back.
Safety and security A very important matter when it comes to a bag you wish to hide and protect expensive electronics like laptops or SLR cameras. The zips are hidden under the lining and actually even the owner has to fumble with it a bit to open the zip, so it's quite improbable someone could open your bag and snatch your stuff without you noticing. The bag body continues into shoulder straps without a seam and such a strap can't be torn off. The material is quite thick, which makes the danger of cutting the bag almost impossible, so your things are pretty safe in the Pretty Boy.
Organizing the stuff The inside space can be divided into two parts - a photopouch and an actual bag which also contains an irremovable laptop pouch. This bag is said to be able to carry up to an 17-inch laptop, which is the only thing I don't understand, because mine is 15.4 inch and it fits in so so and I have to push it in really hard, so I can't imagine anything larger (even if superslim) could fit in. The laptop pouch has two small pockets (one has a net wall) on its front side, which are handy for holding a small notepad, pens, mirror, lipstick, tissue, ID or similar. The photopouch is located on the bottom and can be neatly divided into smaller sections by one big and 4 smaller septa which "click" into place held by velcro. There's another thin zippable pocket on this pouch's outer side. A small velcro-secured pocked is located also on the right side of the bag. What I love about this bag is its "flexibility" - if you need a one-big-space bag the curtain can be opened and the septa removed completely to create a normal backpack.
I'm really happy with this bag and I'm glad I've joined Crumpler, because they don't just promise, their stuf also does live up to your expectations and in such case the rather high price is paid for a great value!
