What is life? But what is death, too?
Review of Do you believe in life after death? by climberdave

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...can look at this world: do we see it as merely a life which we live, and then expire in; do we view it as a stepping stone to the next great adventure; do we see it as a blessing? a curse? the list goes on. It is an arguement as old as time "What is the meaning of life" "Is there a heaven and hell" "Is there a god"??? The sad fact is that there is no answer to these questions, and there most likely never will be. Once we die, we do not come back ...
...and bad, depending what you do to deserve them. Fate and Destiny are equally meritable choices in my own opinion, but i do not hold strong to them. I do not believe in one person being 'luckier' than another. Another question is "if you live a good life, will you go to heaven?"......NOW! this brings on a completely opposite topic: IS THERE A HEAVEN AND HELL This is an immensely difficult and delicate topic to discuss, mainly because it bridges ... I would support a complete smoking ban.
Review of Should smoking be banned in all public places? by Vixterbelle

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

Firstly my apologies to all the smoking fans out there... I believe that everyone could benefit from a complete and total smoking ban, in public and in private. There are several reasons that vary from the mundane stuff, like people not smelling like an ashtray all day long, to the impact that smoking related disease has on the tax payer and valuble NHS resources. I believe that smoking was publicised more in the post war years because it was an ...
...allowed food to go just that little bit further. It's ironic that at a time when the UK was enjoying its healthiest diet, the major cause of so many health problems was being advocated at the highest levels. My Granddad was a smoker for 40 years, ranging from five a day in the post war years to forty a day when he ran his own business. In his mid sixties he fell heavily and broke his leg. In the years that followed the leg failed to heal properly ... Read review

A therapeutic drug or the cause of mental health problems?
Review of Should cannabis be legalised? by Bojack

Advantages: Medical use, recreational, various.
Disadvantages: Negative health effects, bad stigma.

...I believe all illegal substances should be legalised. This may sound crazy, since whilst cannabis can be proven to be fairly safe in comparison to many other drugs, substances such as cocaine and heroin can be both fatal and highly addictive. The reason, however, why I feel these drugs should be legalised is more complicated. From the beginning of time, both people and animals have enjoyed various levels of intoxication. It cannot be denied that ...
...turned them into criminals. Should we be arresting drug-addicts? Does it only perpetuate the cycle of drug use if they are given a criminal record and subsequently, poor job opportunities? Does it not lead users to crime, if they have no other way to pay for their habit? Should cancer patients have to hide their use of cannabis in an effort to safely treat their pain? Should drugs be made illegal just for the sake of it, just to pretend to society ... Read review

How Many Is Too Many?
Review of Is capital punishment wrong? by Hishyeness

Advantages: None. It has no place in modern, civilised society.
Disadvantages: Life is sacred. The execution of even one innocent is too high a price to pay.

...of a single innocent person is unacceptable - the system has proved itself fallible on too many occasions to be relied upon. THE ARBITRARY & INDISCRIMINATE POWER OF STATE The only western country of note to still put its citizens to death – and with alarming regularity - is the United States of America, where the Federal Government, US Military and 38 of the 50 States still have the death penalty on their books. Of these, Texas has the busiest ...
...last resort of any prisoner is the Governor of the State in question. In addition, District Attorneys who prosecute cases and the Judges who preside over trials are political appointees, all with vested interests in keeping their electorate happy to ensure another polling day payday. Politicians who oppose the death penalty or exercise their right of pardon are labelled “soft on crime” regardless of the merits of an individual case. This does not ... Read review
