Advantages: I'll be able to get around faster on my pensioners rail card
Disadvantages: Not immediate enough to create a boost, technology may supercede it, and it may never happen.

Coming from a large industrial town snuggled in the Pennines neatly between Manchester and Leeds I guess my locality in theory is one that is mooted to have much to gain from the HS2 proposals. However, my title is a paraphrase of one of the comments on o ...

Disadvantages: Costs - £32.7bn, Possible Time overuns, Destroy countryside and communities in routes,

Yes, of course UK can afford the high speed rail network system. The question, however, that needs to be asked is 'At What Cost?'. Without beating about the bush I would like to present arguements for both sides of the table before arriving at any conclus ...

Review of HS2: Can the UK afford the high speed rail network system?

The train will be leaving shortly...

Advantages: Some, somewhere.
Disadvantages: I guess.

Personally, I feel that this question has been phrased somewhat wrongly - in my own humble opinion, the UK is able to pay for a new high speed rail network (with of course the appropriate levels of funding or support from wherever it normally comes from). ...
