Back to the Future

Advantages: Has unearthed a political agenda namely a poisoned chalice
Disadvantages: Grotesquely unfair measures that doesn't aid anyone, except for political gain

A staggering 72% (ComRes Poll) of us feel that welfare funding should be either increased or frozen. A stark message to an administration that is hell-bent on dividing the UK into a ‘shirker’ or ‘striver’ nation via political media hype, while slashing ...

Child Benefit Cuts - is it fair? No, but life's not fair...

Advantages: Saves money I guess
Disadvantages: You can't shift a universal benefit to a means tested one

I'm no anthropologist but I've always rather assumed that many of our current social norms have evolved from tribal times and are steeped in some kind of logic. Let's go back to thatched round houses and praying at the sun for a moment. If I try ...

Review of Child benefit cuts - is it fair?

Less kid's and more work please!

Advantages: It helps if moneys tight
Disadvantages: Do people really spend it on kids?

Means test it, simple as! The middle-class don’t really need it (and usually put it towards the out of term family skiing holiday) and generally won’t claim state money if it involves going down the benefits office. The stigma is just too much. That is ce ...
