After a recommendation of this product from my sister a few months ago, I decided to invest in a bottle of my own. The product is: CUTICURA ANTI-BACTERIAL HAND HYGIENE GEL. Before using this product, I'd never encountered Cuticura and so I was a bit wary of buying it as I'd never even heard the name of the company before. So I decided to do a bit of detective work and as in any of my typical reviews I have included a bit of background information on the company behind the product.
CUTICURA? I was quite surprised to find out that Cuticura date all the way back to 1865 - a whopping 140 years old! They are an American company that were among the first to sell medicated soaps in America. They now have a wide range of other products in the Cuticura range available in the UK which include facial scrubs, miracle moisturiser, Moisture Crème, Dry Skin Lotion, Sensitive Beauty Fluid, Hand wash, and Anti-Bacterial Soap. But back to the review and product in hand.
APPEARANCE The bottle I have before me is small, only 100ml, although there is a larger 250ml bottle available and a citrus edition, but the smaller bottle is more useful as it is meant to be portable and easy to carry around with you at any time. The bottle itself is clear (as is the gel inside) with a blue flip top lid that stops any spillages occurring. The labeling is clear, concise and straight to the point, telling the consumer only the information they need to know.
APPLICATION The appearance of the 'gel' is deceiving. Flip open the blue cap and squeeze a bit out and you'll see what I mean. The so called gel turns to liquid as soon as it hits your hand! For this reason it is best to starting rubbing over your palms, fingers and backs of hands straight away to avoid it dripping onto your clothes. The gel is not sticky at all and feels just like water. Keep rubbing until dry and voila - fresh and germ free hands in a matter of seconds! Don't wash it off as I was tempted to the first time or you'll have wasted your time. Its meant to be left on.
One thing you'll notice about the gel is its smell. The smell reminds me strongly of cucumber and can be smelt strongly just opening the bottle. But not to worry! The smell lingers on your hands for around half an hour before it starts to fade but the smell is fresh and pleasant.
I have really sensitive skin and expected the product to give me some reaction but the gel is very refreshing and the only reaction I get is when someone touches my hands and exclaims how soft they feel!
SO DOES IT REALLY WORK? Well, it claims to kill 99% of germs in 15 seconds and many websites I've looked at have confirmed this fact in laboratory tests. My hands feel thoroughly refreshed when I use it so I'd say it definitely does do what it says.
WHEN TO USE IT The gel can be used at any time. I use it just when I feel my hands need refreshing, maybe after eating something sticky also when I've been working in the kitchen in University all day and my hands don't feel clean. Cuticura also recommend using it on bus journeys, at work or outdoors- anywhere where soap and water are not readily available by any age. It's great to use when on the go as you don't need anything but the bottle in your hand to give you 99.9% clean, fresh smelling, soft hands.
WHERE TO BUY IT I got my bottle from Boots for only £1.29 which I think is an absolute bargain and well worth my money. According to Cuticura's website you can buy the gel at all good supermarkets and pharmacies, and it is also available on some of the online chemists websites if you have a good look around.
So to sum it up ….. GO BUY IT! The gel is really amazing and for only £1.29 it's a bargain you cant miss. Its lasted me a long time - I haven't even used half the bottle and I've had it for 3 months now.
BUY! BUY! BUY!
Ooh just before I forget, here's Cuticura's UK website if you'd like to find out more: http://www.cuticura.co.uk
...the front which clearly says Cuticura Anti Bacterial Citrus Hand Hygiene Gel.
A label on the back that has all the instructions and ingredients on it.
It does contain alcohol.
~ Cost ~
You can gat it from Tescos for 78p for a 100ml bottle but most supermarkets do sell it.
~ Overall Verdict ~
A big thumbs up, I would rate it 10 out of 10 for effectiveness and ease.
No matter what situation you may be in, from out doors to working on a computer, ...

Advantages: Does it's job. Quite good value compared to other brands. Disadvantages: A bit drying, and a little runny.
A whole range of anti-bacterial gels have suddenly appeared on the shelves now and this is obviously one of them. This is a relatively unknown brand to me - I think I only bought this as this was more or less one of the cheaper ones out of the more seemingly competent ones [the ones with the most claims :o) ].
There is definitely a use for these. As a regular user of hand wipes, I have always found it awkward with having to deal with the used wipe ... ...a bin, however, on my travels nowadays i have found that the bins are disappearing, especially on the train stations there is never one to be found - sadly because of the increased terrorist precautions that are now taking place...
So, these gels are pretty clever in a way, I say this with a reservation, as these gels can never replace the full effectiveness of clean soap and water.
Anyway, back to the gel. Yes, this was the first gel that I have ...

Convenient Cleansing Review ofCuticura Anti-Bacterial Hand Hygiene Gelby
TrevelyanUK
Advantages: Kills the really bad bugs, useful when you cant wash your, smells good Disadvantages: Doesn't do well at remove grease or dirt
I first used this in Poland, when my very "clean" friend wanted to constantly clean his hands whenever touching a surface that didn't belong to him. It was after this that I realised the benefits it could have.
The gel has a sort of watermelon-y smell to it and it dries very quickly. At about £1 for a 100ml bottle (which will last a fair while, depending on how often you use it) it isn't too bad, really. A 100 ml container will also be able to get ... ...by other passengers on the plane! I will, however, say that there is no alcohol content in % on the list of ingredients - however since this is the first listed ingredient, it is at least 50% alcohol. The idea that this is an alternative to washing hands does hold a lot of truth (it is very effective) but really, I would use my judgement on why I need the gel in the first place. For example - if you have been weeding in the garden, I would wash my ...

Cuticura Original Hand hygiene gel - great idea, but beware if you have sensitive skin
I bought a 100ml bottle of this to keep in my car, as I wanted to be able to make sure my hands were clean and germ-free when eating my lunch between peripatetic appointments in a hectic working day.
It is a small and convenient bottle and is easy and quick to use and, as the bottle says, it isn't sticky and takes only seconds to dry. As you only need a small ... ...your hands certainly feel fresh and clean when you have used it.
According to the label, it kills over 99.9% of germs within 15 seconds and I thought I'd found the ideal solution for cleanliness and hygiene with my lunch - especially as the only loo I have access to at lunchtime is a none too savoury public convenience, where soap has never been a feature!
Sadly, for me, there is one huge drawback, which none of the previous reviewers appear to ...

I bought this product last week from my local pharmacy which happened to be Lloyd's, for £1.29- which indeed I thought was a very reasonable price, especially as you get a decent 100ml in each bottle. You only need to use a small amount of the product on your hands and simply rub over your hands and it seems to sink straight in, being very practical as you don't need to wash it off or use a towel or something similar to dry your hands off This product, ... ...of situations including in public toilets (when lets admit, the hygiene isn't always that great!), eating out and generally on the go. In fact, I have taken this gel to college with me due to the recent flu scare to keep hygiene levels up and it is very handy as it just slips into my bag and I can use it whenever I feel like it, without creating mess around me! When in the shop, I did have the choice between this gel and an alternative gel of the ...
