The CW099D is an internal type, 5.25-inch, half-height CD-RW drive with an IDE/ATAPI interface, featuring read speeds up to 52x, write speeds up to 52x and re-write speeds up to 24x. The drive utilizes a High Precise Sledge Control (HPSC) type traverse mechanism to improve access time to 90 ms while reducing acoustic seek noise. The CW099D features SUPERLINK buffer under-run protection. This technology varies the drive's write speed to coincide with the data flow into its buffer, preventing an "under-run" condition which could cause a disk write error.
