...This is an internal CDRW and fits in the drive bay of a standard PC. CD Read speed: 52x CD-R Write speed: 52x CDRW Write speed: 24x This cost me £25.00 from a local computer shop, great value for money. Writer is fairly easy to install, I just copied the configuration of my old CD writer (jumper switch on the back needs to be set to Master or Slave). The instruction sheet is pretty basic but fairly easy to understand and has diagrams of each step required. Comes boxed with Nero burning ROM software. This only works with the CD writer it was supplied with (fair enough, I suppose). This is the first time I have used Nero software, and I found it extremely easy to use....it only took me 10mins to burn a CD for the first time. ...I went to PC World and they had an offer on (this was just after Christmas). This was down to £119.99. It is a 4rw x 8w x 32r CD-RW bundled with some really natty software including CD Direct and MyCD plus CD Labler II. I had looked on sites like DABS, etc. and some writers were cheaper, but I am a little fussy and wanted a name that I knew! I had been after a decent CD-RW for ages but had always been put off by the price and whether I would use it a lot or not. As time goes on I have noticed the drop in price of CD-RWs which is great for the consumer. You don't need to have the latest hardware to achieve excellent results. ...well this is actually the Sony CRX160E-RP that I have but the difference is very slight Firstly the reason I picked this model was for value. I know there are cheaper Cd-rw writers out there but not all of them are as good as they seem, for instance they can't all read or write raw data(subchannel) but this one can, so you can back up a bigger range of your cd's. Plus with being a big brand name you are almost certain that it is going to be a quality product and not burn out on you after a few weeks.
