CyberHomeCH400 - I liked it so much, I bought another one. And another one.
REGION FREE METHOD FOR CyberHome:
Power on TV and DVD
Press 'open'
Press 'set up' on remote control:
Press 1,3,6,9 on remote control.
Press Left arrow 3 times:
Press Right arrow key once: A new option 'Version' will appear on the menu
Use the remote to move down to 'Version' section, and press 'enter'
A new section 'Region Code' will appear
Use the Right arrow key to move on to the number.
Press the down arrow key twice to select region 0
Press the left arrow key to go back to the 'Region code'
Press the down arrow key to 'Main Page' and press 'enter'
Select 'Exit set up'
That's it!...

The W H Smith’s website by comparison, told a wholly more comprehensive story. Not only did their machine (CyberhomeCH400) cost the same, but also using a combination of their ‘crib sheet’ and a whole host of testimonials from buyers enabled you to garner together a very wide specification for the machine.
1. CYBERHOMECH DVD400
Cyberhome is a little-known brand outside of the budget end of DVD purchasing, but even so, it is a brand with a firm following of fans.
This particular machine is quite compact (225 mm wide) compared to the usual ‘Hi-Fi separate’ size. To achieve this, it has no frontal luminous display (my 'dong' doesn't have a luminous nose either!). However, a press of a button on the remote brings up the equivalent display on the TV screen...

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use with clear instructions. Good user interface Disadvantages: None apparent so far. However it's quality may be reflected in the price.

Looks good.
2 scart sockets and AV connections are handy to have, plus has normal co-axial aerial socket.
Easy to set-up. Instructions are about the easiest to understand and very comprehensive.
Had it for over a month, for the price a very good machine.
Obviously, it may not last as long as more expensive DVRs, but still.
Also, there is a hidden menu to change the region, so that you can make it region free - details can be found online with a search. The DVR comes preset to play region 2 dvds but using the hidden menu you can set it to play any region, Region 0 (i.e. region free) is the most useful as it then enables you to play DVDs purchased from abroad.
The remote control is small and unobstrusive, quite neat. Takes a flat cell battery like a large watch battery though, so buying a couple of those...
