I own one of these - they feel solid to use and are 'just' a graphic EQ instead of having lots of extra bells and whistles, which is why I chose it. However, the biggest let down with the 231 is that it puts a LOT of noise in to the signal path. Other users of the 231 have made the same comment. I have swapped out leads etc but the fact is this unit is very noisey/hissy. Would be fine for a loud band, but useless for speech or anything quiet. LED metering is also very limited to a 4 grade scale - not incredibly accurate.
Mine was picked up for £120, new, via eBay. A good price but I am unable to return it due to the nature of auction sites.
Only buy if you have to.
