The brand DC was founded in 1993 and are well known for their skate and snowboarding wear. They are now a global company which over the years have expanded from producing men's skate shoes to women's and children's products as well. DC no longer just make the shoes but they also make skateboards, snowboards, clothing and accessories and going even further they have athletics behind them doing BMX, skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and more. What started out as a skate brand has turned into a common fashion shoe.
I wanted my first pair of DC skate shoes when I was fifteen years old and I knew Christmas was fast approaching. Getting all excited I browsed the internet for hours and hours searching for the right ones for me. The ones I originally wanted where black with a grey DC logo on the side. Putting forward my list of ideas for Christmas I specifically said that I wanted these shoes even if I don't get anything else! On Christmas morning I remember the feeling of unwrapping that box to reveal a big DC logo on the box, not being able to contain my excitement I ripped open the box too to take a good look at them, they were not the ones that I wanted but they were black with a big pink DC logo on them, I still loved them so much.
My feet had grown to their full size at a really young age and I was a size six from the age ten and luckily they stopped growing because they still are. These shoes were a size 6 but trying them on I have enough spare room around my foot for it to be comfortable without being too loose but it's nothing the laces wouldn't sort out. Looking at the shoe it's made of black suede like material including the pink DC sign, this really makes the shoes stand out and is noticeable to anyone who knows who DC are. The sole seems a fair size and there is definitely a lot of grip.
Sliding my foot inside these feel bulky inside, the sole inside in stead of being flat it has a little bump in the middle where the curvature of your foot is, this makes it very comfortable as the sole fits the shape of my foot. The thickness of the sole is very noticeable on my foot, when I stood up it was slightly springy but really comfy. The tongue of the shoe was extremely padded too so when I did my laces up I made sure they was quite loose and this made the shoes really comfortable.
I used to always wear these almost everyday and I wore them most of the time with my black or blue skinny jeans. It was just something simple that made the shoes stand out, not having much fashion sense at that age I can't say what I might of looked out but these days I would probably wear them differently. I sued to walk everywhere and these were great for walking long periods of time and great distance. I found that these were brilliant in the snow and ice because of the amount of grip on the bottom, this is of course useful for people who skate.
After time and me wearing these day in and day out, because I put more weight on my heels that my toes when I walk I found that the heels in the shoes wore down more than anything and did eventually end up getting some holes there. I have no idea about the price of these but they were definitely the best shoes of my young adulthood.
