Do you and your business need the most powerful and advanced computer? Almost surely you do. There's an effective and affordable way to harness the power of the newest hardware without emptying your pockets in the process. In order to satisfy the demands of its customers, Compaq offers a variety of upgrade options, thus eliminating the need for purchasing new computers every time something new appears on the market.
Advantages: Reliable Disadvantages: Cost? ( see opinion )
...tag given to Intel processors is somewhat unjustified.
For example my PIII 600 in May 2000 - cost £240 running at 800mhz. An 800mhz PIII at the time was approx £500, enough to get a top of the range graphics card and change. Admittedly there are some "hidden" costs to the overclocked version e.g. a good quality mainboard, roomy case for good airflow, and a better heatsink, but I think that these are good practice in building any computer, the other minus is there's no guarantee that the processor you get will sucessfuly overclock.
I would however still recommend the Pentium III, it's a good, fast and stable processor even when pushed towards it's limits....

Advantages: Great value processor Disadvantages: slower than Pentium 4
...it will not be able to fit into the motherboard.
The consumers are being fooled by Intel into believing that clock speed is all that matters but the truth is that Intel processor needs a 500mhz advantage in clock speeds to be able to outperform the Intel processor. In terms of motherboard specification the Athlon XP 2400+ fits on a Socket A motherboards. The installation is pretty simple, as you line up the slotted ends of the processor with the slotted ends of the socket and drop in the processor. Lock it into place and attach the Heat Sink fan. Pls. don’t forget to put on a thermal paste or else you will be having your roasted processor for dinner..
Opinion
The Athlon XP 2400+ is a great performing processor, but it simply doesn't have enough power at this time to beat the Pentium 4 processors. With a new architecture, this processor looks...
