...Moving into a new year, looking back, I can see that CPU and processor technology has come along way in the past years. But the gaming industry has also. Look at recent games, like Dues Ex for example. We are getting to the stage now, where, if you want to be able to play the most up-to-date games, then you have to keep your PC's up-to-date. I recently had to upgrade to a 600mhz pc just so I could play a few games I had newly purchased, and with the new discovery of the 1ghz processor, gaming can get even better. Depending on the game, and the game type, then your PC will have to have higher specs in order to run the games at a proper rate. take Red Alert 2 for example, the hit game from the C&C series. ...When you're evaluating this product please don't forget that it's probably only costing you £15/£20 pounds and it IS a budget processor. There is speed to be had in this processor but it's NOT 333 Mhz of speed. It's a cleverly multiplied low-end processor which has a very high effective speed. The best situation for this chip is where you could normally only fit a P166 Mhz chip. Older machines. Once excellent place for this chip is in network servers. Laugh all you will but .... You can pick-up a rack-mountable Compaq Proliant server which support 4 processors (P166) for about £250. Buy four of these and fit them and you've got an awesome little server for under £350. Add extra memory and a good HD system and you've got a VERY capabale multi-function server capable of sevicing over 1000 users on a LAN. I know this as I... Read review

...I've had "PC Compatible" computers since 1993, starting with an Intel 25mhz processor before switching to AMD processors - which was mainly down to cost - going up to an AMD K5 200mhz. I switched back to Intel in 1998 with a Celeron 300mhz which I immediately overclocked to 450mhz, and which is still running today at 465mhz without a hitch. I now have an Intel PIII 600mhz which I run at 800mhz for daily use, and which can run at 850mhz without any problems, even when playing processor intensive games. I called this opinion "More for your money" because of the only recently publicised practice of overclocking, which if you consider the cost differential between the processor you buy and the equivelant cost of the one you would need to attain the "overclocked" speed, is quite significant.
