Advantages: Plays DivX AVI and MPEG files, Supports lots of formats, Looks good, Karaoke, Disadvantages: DivX 3.11, 4.02 plays slightly slanted, cheap plasticy remote, Doesn't play some NTSC encoded files
I've wanted a DVD player that was capable of playing DivX files for a while because of all my anime and por...errr....other video files..., but the players cost more than normal DVD players so resisted for a while. I've seen brands such as KISS and Yamada but later came across this DKDigitalDVD-500 DivX DVD player after the prices have dropped. It only cost £41.98 (61.52 Euros) from SVP Communications (AKA Blank Disc Shop).
-= The Player =-
The player looks sleek with a black and silver design. Black at the front with silver at the top and bottom curving in towards each other at the middle, which I think looks really good. The player itself looks quite durable and the tray isn't flimsy like some I've seen. The LCD display shows the numbers in green and other details such as TRK, DVD, etc in red. Advantages: Easy to use, simple but versatile with features for advanced users Disadvantages: Battery life drains fast when using the LCD screen
Having seen the results of previous Canon digital IXUS models from family members it was time for me to get one. The new 500 model seemed like a good model to choose. Sure enough having used the camera for some time I can see why the Canon's come so highly recommended.
The features are there for advanced users, but it is easy to for first time users like myself to use the camera. Having recently gone on holiday and taking loads of photographs of great scenery, as well as a few close up photos of wild life, the camera held up to expectations. The panoramic picture taker is really handy and the program that comes with the camera for stitching the photos together is incredible. I can not recommend enough the brilliance of this feature, it gives you the ability to take photos of so much more. Downloading the pictures onto a computer ...
Advantages: Superb picture quality, compact, stylish & ergonomic design, feature rich Disadvantages: No case included, small memory card
I have recently purchased my first digital camera, and after choosing the Canon Ixus 500, I am certainly not disappointed.
The camera has a compact, stylish and ergonomic design. It feels solid to hold but is also light enough to carry around easily.
Setting up the camera for the first time was reassuring straightforward. The goods were exactly as described and very well packaged. I was up and running within minutes!
Picture quality is absolutely excellent. 5MP provides super detailed images. I particularly like the panoramic option which has enabled me to get some superb wide angle shots on holiday. Video mode in 640x480 (upto 3.5 mins) is also pretty impressive so this camera can be used affectively for both photo and video. Less to carry!!!!!
Pictures are very easy to review on the back of the camera and the menu ...
