I tested this player using my standard equipment. As this covers only Scart connections I am unable to test the extra IO connectors. The review will focus primarily on playback features.
Most people use a DVD player to just play purchased DVD discs. For this the DVD-915 performs very well. I have tried about 30 discs so far (all region 2) and none have exhibited any faults or glitches. The quality is excellent with no digital artifacts being present at any point on the disc.
One of the major selling points of the player though is its ability to play mpeg movies encoded using either DiVX or XViD codecs. Typically this allows around 5 full movies to be stored on a standard 4.3GB DVDR disk or 1 on a CDR. DK Digital state that the player does not support playback from recorded DVD discs in either + or - format. My DVDR of choice is currently the Datawrite Classic 8x Grey and all testing has so far been performed with these disks. Playback of mpeg files is straight forward. Using a computer copy the files using the data DVD format. It doesn't matter whether the file extension is mpg or avi as the player plays both. Some DiVX or XViD encoded playback was seen to be choppy, but a minor change to the file prior to recording onto disk solves these problems.

Open the movie in the program and unpack if 'packed bitstream' is selected.
Once unpacked click on the DIvx line (usually something along the lines of DivX999b000p) click edit and change the p at the end to and n. By default the player ships set to region 2. This can easily be changed using the handset.
Switch on player Press Open on Remote Press Clear on Remote Press 1 3 6 9 0 - Change the 0 to whatever region is required. 0 works as region free.
The DVD-915 does what it says on the box, and very well. There is a minor issue with Packed Bitstream movies but the minor change listed above solves that. I recommend this player especially as similar DiVX compatible players usually retail for near twice the price.
