DOOM (Xbox Live Arcade)

Advantages: Online play, responsive controls
Disadvantages: Expensive, no extra content

Doom was the first person shooter that defined the genre, and blew people away in 1993. Playing as a non-descript marine, you shoot your way through legions of demons, utilising shotguns, plasma rifles, and the infamous B.F.G 9000. There was a story behind all the shooting, but I don't think anybody remembers or cares about it, some tripe about hell and moon bases or something. ...it is. I liked doom on Live Arcade, it's still a satisfying game to play after 14 years. The controls adapt to the Xbox360 pad excellently, and the sound effects and music have actually aged pretty well. Even graphically it doesn't look too bad, although perhaps younger gamers will balk at the scaling 2D sprites. Disadvantages: It doesn't have Lookup or LookDown

Doom changed my life...no, wait, I should say birth changed my life, really, but Doom comes a close second to the all-knowing, vastness of life's complexities with regards to altering the fabric of the universe, especially for one such as myself who didn't have much in the way of intelligence (school was as entertaining as white paint drying on my sister's face as I threw it at her). But no, really, Doom changed my life, amongst other great games ...
...it's not needed. The original Doom levels are there, they traverse to Online play (so quick and easy) and you even retain your score for both single and multiplayer on the Leaderboards. If id software do decide to port Doom II at any point either as an extra download or a game on its own, I'll be happy to oblige with parting from my 800 M$points. ...own, such as map packs, xbox themes, picture packs etc. You can also buy Xbox Live Arcade games, one of my favourite being the original DOOM game that I remember playing as a child on Playstation 1! There's hundreds to choose from, a lot of which also have online modes where you can play against your dearest friends! ""Disadvantages:" Nothings in life is perfect, and the biggest let down for the 360 is it's overheating problems, commonly known as the RRoD (Red rings of death). I personally have never experienced any overheating problems, my Xbox is ventilated well though, on a hard, wooden surface, not on a carpet or in some sort of tv unit behind glass, keeping the heat inside and not cooling the 360 down. I recommend keeping both the 360 and it's powerpack in a well ventilated area, not too close to anything else and on a wooden... Read review

...and gamerscore. Gamertags are like your username but on your console people use them to connect with you and know who you are in the middle of matches. Gamerscore is a way to show off when you get a game it will have things on it called achievements these are fun little points you get if you do somthing special on a game these points will add to your score and rank you upto your friends and there score. Each game has 1000 points that you can get. The Xbox Live marketplace is amazing, its set out really well and is updated with new demos or trailers daily.. The new addition to the marketplace is how you can buy classic xbox games for a low price and place them straight onto your hard drive. Theres also the xbox live arcade games.
