...a search i found the Toshiba SD-290. It is a neat compact unit but still stylish at the same time. Setup could not be easier just plug in the power and scart and done. The remote is a bit small and therefore there is a habit of hitting the wrong button by accident. The Sony DVP-PR30 Is My Little Black Box

Advantages: Neat, Stylish and Performs Well.

WOW!! The best upscaling DVD player bar non!!!!

Advantages: Good quality dvd's like HD
Disadvantages: None

...have recently purchased the new Toshiba 42ZV555DB LCD TV which upscales SD signals to near HD quality. I was a bit sceptical but the difference is unbelievable. The pictures are so sharp. High quality bitrate signals like the BBC news look like the presenter is 3D!! That's on normal Freeview aswell!! Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
