The Aiwa XD-DV370 is my second DVD player after I decided that my LG3200E wasn't good enough for me. Although, the LG was a quality player for the price and it was multi-region (Remote Hack) I was after some extras. The remote is as big as the DVD player . Feautures i liked was the DTS optical out which plugs nicley in to my cinema surround sound and the Sound is excellent Plays CD-R and CDRW and the sound is crystal clear. The unit was easy to set up with clearley marked plugs for where and to which. The Picutre quality is very good for such a small unit I liked the fact i could unplug it and put it in a bag and take it with me when i went on holiday/caravan ...
...main draw backs are its top loading having to manually locate the disc on the centre so care has to be taken not to scratch DVDs The remote is a little bit confusing with alot of options on and the main keys (play,stop skip. etc) are not clearley marked,you need to look to find them . ..., with the announcement that Toshiba is to withdraw from the hd race for the next format it leaves hd-dvd players in a very poor position in the market place , however do not let this put you off , there is already a great library off hd-dvd discs out there and as there is no region coding on the discs ,this means you can order via eBay direct from use for even more titles , of course the likelihood of new movies coming out on this format are very ...
...and the latest firmware via Toshiba brings it right unto date with picture and sound , if your savvy you can get one of these and a collection of discs for a fraction of the price of a blu-ray player and start enjoying high definition discs , the money you save get be put to one side to but a blu-ray / ps3 when they inevitably come down in price later this year ... ...One HDMI cable is so nice as well. DVDs look great on my 42"" 1080i LCD tv. But setup menu is REALLY slow to respond.
