Karaoke Machine
Review of Goodmans GDVD200CDG by
petestaley
Advantages: Plays DVD, DVD-R, MP3, Kodak picture disc AND KARAOKE CDG's
Disadvantages: only comes with one microphone, component cable not supplied
...of about £50 " Jackpot. Goodmans GDVD200CDGM from Argos for £49.99p. After getting it home and ripping it from it's packaging we realised our mistake, only one microphone, but not to worry a quick trip back to Argos and we got one for under £10. So, we try to hook it up, it comes supplied with a scart cable but i wanted it to go through my surround sound system and fortunately the player supports 2 channel dolby so i can use a component cable ( thats ... ...each end ). It comes with a Demo disc but i already had a load of cdg's on my computer as i had a Karaoke machine on my computer so i just had to convert them ( please get in touch if you would like more info on how to do this ) After playing around with a couple of settings, eg, mic level, echo etc, ( all covered in the manual ) we were away, i can tell you, there's nothing like hacking your way through " I Will Survive " after a couple of glasses ...

Good Idea, but not the best product
Review of Goodmans GDB400 by
jbeiers
Advantages: A compact system containing freeview and a DVD player
Disadvantages: Does not have the best freeview reception
I bought this dvd player and freeview box in May 2005 and from the start had problems with the freeview reception. I thought it was my aerial for a while, so ignored the problems, but after I moved house and the poor reception continued, I realised it wasn't my aerial, but the box is not very good at picking up freeview signals and has a tendency to cut out on certain channels ever 3 minutes or so.
The dvd cababilities of the box are great, it's ... ...is easy to use too.
The freeview capabilities are not good. The box cuts out when you are watching certain channels, both freeview and terrestrial channels - ITV1 and ITV2 in particular. The picture also freezes while the sound continues to play on most channels at one point or another. Playing a dvd can also be affected by the freeview channels - I don't know how this happens but it does cut out on a disc if you were previously watching one of ...

Be a goodman with a Goodmans.
Review of Goodmans GDVD134 by
essential1
Advantages: Slim, lite, useful.
Disadvantages: Does not record.
...only this one. It's a Goodmans GDVD134.
~The Look~
-------------
It's a silver metal body with silver remote with blue buttons on the remote and blue display screen on the DVD. I liked that clearly. It's got 12 buttons on the front of the DVD, on-off, stop, ff,rew.etc. The remote is grey silver with the flexibility of extra features that the machine itself does not have. It's also got zoom, title, menu, set up, sub title features. This is very ... ...you have added control. It can be streatch up to the 2O ft of my good but must be point at the DVD to work at all. Again, the extra feature on the remote are all you could want some I never use like the change from PAL to NTSC feature. The DVD sit on feet made of soft rubber and so will not scratch a table it looks like it is durable. ~Weight~
-------------
As for the weight it is not going to be a concern for any, I could tell you that, it's very ...

DivX v DVD
Review of Goodmans GDVD161 by
loachie
Advantages: Cost and features you get for your money.
Disadvantages: displays file name not tag information on MP3s
Model : Goodmans GDVD161DX
The first thing to say about this unit is it is very nice looking, with chrome knobs, buttons and facia and the case is silver. Quite thin but rather wider than I would have liked, however it does fit in to my TV cabinet so I'm not too concerned. It has two headphone sockets with an independent volume control knob all front facing. This is a really nice feature, the volume control knobs are flush fitting and if you press ... ...to a CD and the Goodmans player is quite happy to play it. Obviously to create your own VCD, DVD, DivX discs you need a pc and suitable software (there is lots of software available that is freeware) and you must remember that in most countries it is illegal to copy copyrighted movies and music discs.
The outputs are impressive: Dolby digital 5.1 (six channel outputs) unfortunately this needs a separate amplifier, composite video out, s-vhs video ...

Goodmans DVD One not to miss
Review of Goodmans GDVD157 by
cornishman30
Advantages: Plays cds, dvds, cdrw, jpeg
Disadvantages: None
...I came accross a goodmans GDVD157, on first view the unit looked modern, I liked the general look of it. The price was £36.99, which is a very good price for a good DVD player. I liked the fact that it was CD, CDRW, MPEG, JPEG, and VCD compatible.
One feature I liked about this unit is that you can play your downloaded pictures from your computer, save them to disc and play them on your dvd player. it plays them as a slideshow, holding each picture ... ...one. You can still pause the picture should you require to do so. Playability
------------
Generally I was very impressed with the unit. The images are very clear. The on screen menus are simple to perform. You can switch the screen size while your film is playing and zoom in the picture should you require it. All the options are easy to understand.
You can forward and reverse scene by scene, or use the old fashoned fast forward or rewind. You ...
