Sturdy player, if a little dated.
Review of JVC XV-S 42 by chrisball2000

Advantages: Bargain basement price, reliable all round performance, mpg support
Disadvantages: Only supports region 2, outdated model

Being a bit of an X-Files nut I bought this DVD player two years ago so that I could get the series boxsets that were coming out on DVD. I had been put off buying a DVD player for a while as I wasn't prepared to pay the prices that the top of the range models were going for but I saw this model on the high street for £70 and I decided to take a chance on it. Obviously two years is a long time in the technology world and this model wasn't that new ...
...the range picture quality and sound with all the bells and whistles of a new player then this isn't for you. However if you are on a budget and want a player with decent sound and picture quality then I would recommend this model. It also has a compact design which makes it a good choice if space is at a premium in your living room Over the last two years my DVD collection has expanded and my player has seen some heavy use. In this time it has proved ... Read review

Pros and Cons of the XV-E100
Review of JVC XV-E 100 by cuatc

Advantages: Sound quality is awesome! Spacious and stylish design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't play MP3s.

I own my very own JVC XV-E100 and love it. The sound quality and design is awesome. Picture quality of the DVD is also great. Tip: Sound does sound best above a hardwood floor. The only draw back is that the player doesn't play MP3s. If I would have to buy another DVD player, it would have to play MP3s. Sound sound is very theatrical and realistic. The best DVD I seen yet playing on this system is XXX. The soundtrack and fast paced action make s ... Read review

...rep. directed me towards the JVC XV-523GD and its several other models. I also had my eye on the Aiwa models knowing from word of mouth about their ability to play MP3 and many other compressed CD's. They were out of those, so I decided to give the JVC model a try. It did look like I would not be disappointed when I purchased this DVD player, and so far I have not been. The JVC XV-523GD comes with the following included: -Audio/Video Cable -S-video ...
...for it built into this JVC model DVD player. I recommend if you do not already have the required hookups to purchase the monstercords, which come in a variety of functions, uses, and different lengths. Make sure to ask someone if you are not sure which ones are right for you. Be aware of all the components your DVD player takes, because some store reps. do not have knowledge of this. Below are some of the features of this JVC DVD: -Strobe Function- ... Read review

Review of JVC XV-N 33 by BACK_IN_BLACK_DEVIL

Advantages: Beginners - kindly through clearness, stylish design, picture - and Tonqualität
Disadvantages: ---------------

I dear cinema-films, and such, that pleased me especially well, would also like to have I at home then. Therefore, I have a quite big collection at videos. Through the miracles of the new technology impresses I wanted also to afford a DVD-Gerät approximately one month ago finally then. Therefore, I set out, with the solid resolution, no longer than 150 Euro, to spend, as also, with my constantly empties account *sfz *. Nevertheless, I wanted ...
...DVD-Laie an as operator-friendly as possible appliance. I could be discussed and finally decided me for the DVD-Player " XV-N33SL " of JVC, that lay in the limit sedate by me in price and had even some addition-functions, that I had not at all expected. But to it later more. What does one get for the money? Besides the appliance itself still the long-distance-service including batteries and an audio-video-cable with which I could nothing starting, ... Read review

A bargain to be had.
Review of JVC HR-XV 2 by floppy26

Advantages: All-in-one, Popular make. Good price
Disadvantages: confusing remote control!

I purchased my unit from Sky.buy for £110 so i was already happy with the all-in-one combi before i even took it out of the box. It is a standard 'Region-2' dvd player althgouh, after much searching, i managed to find a disk which unlocks it to 'Multi-region' and is RCE compatible. In general this is a superb machine, the picture quality is above-par, the design is fantastic and there are more than enough choices for connecting htis unit to your ...
...I must confess that it took me over half an hour to tune the VCD into the TV (maybe i'm now too old for new technology!) but once it was set it did the job. The remote control is cumbersome and i tend not to avoid using it. You can re-program the remote to work on your tv so avoiding loads of controllers on the arm of the sofa! Copying DVD-to-Vidoe is very straightforward although this will only let you copy 'un-copyrighted' material. If it is your ... Read review
