A bargain to be had.
Advantages: All-in-one, Popular make. Good price Disadvantages: confusing remote control!
I purchased my unit from Sky.buy for £110 so i was already happy with the all-in-one combi before i even took it out of the box. It is a standard 'Region-2' dvd player althgouh, after much searching, i managed to find a disk which unlocks it to 'Multi-region' and is RCE compatible. In general this is a superb machine, the picture quality is above-par, the design is fantastic and there are more than enough choices for connecting htis unit to your ... ...I must confess that it took me over half an hour to tune the VCD into the TV (maybe i'm now too old for new technology!) but once it was set it did the job. The remote control is cumbersome and i tend not to avoid using it. You can re-program the remote to work on your tv so avoiding loads of controllers on the arm of the sofa!
Copying DVD-to-Vidoe is very straightforward although this will only let you copy 'un-copyrighted' material. If it is your ...

JVC XVN55SL
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, zoom and other functions, good sound output Disadvantages: Non. If it recorded it would be the best ever..
...is packed with features, the JVC XV-N55SL would be worthy of consideration. We have had ours a couple of years now, but last year it got relegated to the dining room when we purchased our DVD recorder. It is hooked up to a portable TV we have in there but it does not really do justice to the JVC in all fairness. But that's the way things go. If we had room in our lounge under our TV on top of the DVD recorder it would still be there, because it is ... ...got the JVC home as a Christmas present to both of us (from both of us) a couple of Christmases ago, we were amazed how light and slim it was - no thicker than three CDs on top of each other (better make that 4 to be on the safe side), and no wider or deeper than our Sony video recorder that we placed it on top of. We were fascinated by the bright blue lighting effect on the front panel when we plugged it in and switched it on for the first time. ...

Pros and Cons of the XV-E100
Advantages: Sound quality is awesome! Spacious and stylish design. Disadvantages: Doesn't play MP3s.
I own my very own JVC XV-E100 and love it. The sound quality and design is awesome. Picture quality of the DVD is also great. Tip: Sound does sound best above a hardwood floor. The only draw back is that the player doesn't play MP3s. If I would have to buy another DVD player, it would have to play MP3s. Sound sound is very theatrical and realistic. The best DVD I seen yet playing on this system is XXX. The soundtrack and fast paced action make s ...

Excellent quality and even better value for money
Advantages: Multi-Regional straight from the box Disadvantages: None whatsoever
I've owned this DVD player for about 3 years now. After considering several other makes, I decided to buy this and I don't regret that decision one bit. The main thing for me, because I moved to Australia only a couple of months before I bought it, was would it play my English DVDs, given that Australia is a different region DVD to England. No worries here, it plays them with no problem, no having to get special discs to load up the information it ... ...them the minute it came out of the box. Extremely easy to install - just plug it in and away you go. The picture is clear and it automatically changes region according what DVD I put in it, I don't need to do a thing on that score. In fact, I half think that if I put a dinner plate in the tray it'd play that too! I paid the equvalent of about £40-£45 for it, so it was a real bargain and no mistake. It's so easy to operate it's almost unbelievable ...

JVC DVD - XVN33 - good for a cheapie!
Advantages: Can play burnt dvds (floating laser system), very slim, quite reliable Disadvantages: has a tendency to stop playing smoothly halfway through a dvd sometimes
...it about 2 years ago! JVC is a well known brand with a good reputation and it is covered under a warranty! The price was the biggest factor when i was looing for a dvd player - no doubt the price has dropped since my purchase but even then it was one of the cheaper models
The only problem i have experienced with it is a strange freezing halfway through movies sometimes though not that often it can be quite annoying - perhaps the disks get scratched ... ...mention...it looks quite nice too! Not ugly at all.
All cables and installation notes and a 12 month warranty (in australia at least - not sure internationally!) are included. JVC has a good reputation for customer service though i have not myself needed it which is a good sign! ...
