Sturdy player, if a little dated.

Advantages: Bargain basement price, reliable all round performance, mpg support
Disadvantages: Only supports region 2, outdated model
Being a bit of an X-Files nut I bought this DVD player two years ago so that I could get the series boxsets that were coming out on DVD. I had been put off buying a DVD player for a while as I wasn't prepared to pay the prices that the top of the range models were going for but I saw this model on the high street for £70 and I decided to take a chance on it.
Obviously two years is a long time in the technology world and this model wasn't that new ... ...the range picture quality and sound with all the bells and whistles of a new player then this isn't for you. However if you are on a budget and want a player with decent sound and picture quality then I would recommend this model. It also has a compact design which makes it a good choice if space is at a premium in your living room
Over the last two years my DVD collection has expanded and my player has seen some heavy use. In this time it has proved ...

JVC DVD - XVN33 - good for a cheapie!
Review of JVC XVN33SL by
oscariuss
Advantages: Can play burnt dvds (floating laser system), very slim, quite reliable
Disadvantages: has a tendency to stop playing smoothly halfway through a dvd sometimes
...it about 2 years ago! JVC is a well known brand with a good reputation and it is covered under a warranty! The price was the biggest factor when i was looing for a dvd player - no doubt the price has dropped since my purchase but even then it was one of the cheaper models
The only problem i have experienced with it is a strange freezing halfway through movies sometimes though not that often it can be quite annoying - perhaps the disks get scratched ... ...mention...it looks quite nice too! Not ugly at all.
All cables and installation notes and a 12 month warranty (in australia at least - not sure internationally!) are included. JVC has a good reputation for customer service though i have not myself needed it which is a good sign! ...

A bargain to be had.
Review of JVC HR-XV 2 by
floppy26
Advantages: All-in-one, Popular make. Good price
Disadvantages: confusing remote control!
I purchased my unit from Sky.buy for £110 so i was already happy with the all-in-one combi before i even took it out of the box. It is a standard 'Region-2' dvd player althgouh, after much searching, i managed to find a disk which unlocks it to 'Multi-region' and is RCE compatible. In general this is a superb machine, the picture quality is above-par, the design is fantastic and there are more than enough choices for connecting htis unit to your ... ...I must confess that it took me over half an hour to tune the VCD into the TV (maybe i'm now too old for new technology!) but once it was set it did the job. The remote control is cumbersome and i tend not to avoid using it. You can re-program the remote to work on your tv so avoiding loads of controllers on the arm of the sofa!
Copying DVD-to-Vidoe is very straightforward although this will only let you copy 'un-copyrighted' material. If it is your ...

With all the usual extras you would expect from a dvd player and the quality you expect from JVC and the price at Bennetts you really cant go wrong with this, and lets face it with todays computer technology who needs a multi region player anyway! ...

A Player for all Seasons
Review of JVC XVS302 by
da.oleary
Advantages: Affordable, Reliable, easy to step up and use
Disadvantages: Region specific, non-recordable.
The JVC XV-S302 is a pretty standard DVD player. It has all the basics with no thrills
Without the thrills, makes this DVD simplistic and straight forward!
simplistic interface, clearly identifiable operation buttons, its idiot proof! i had no trouble setting it up, i didnt need to consult the manual at all!
It's a godsend to the technically challenged like myself!
JVC are a name you can trust, don't buy any old name. JVC products have a good ... ...do is to watch DVDs…
BUY THIS DVD PLAYER the JVC XV-S302!!!
And never think twice after!!
Expect to pay no more than €100
AND BONUS!! It will also act as a sound system playing your Audio CD's through your DVD player into your Entertainment system!! ...
