Kiss DP-600
Review of Kiss DP-600 by dan_oglesby30

Advantages: Plays all the content and file types you can throw at it
Disadvantages: Plenty of bugs, little firmware updates and the Online Extras are useless

I have owned the Kiss DP-600 player since the day it came out. So far it has not failed to play a media type thrown at it. Unfortunatly Kiss have only released a few firmware updates. The player is still full of Bugs. For example - *a Green screen when the player turns on *Difficulty in Upgrading and Downgrading Firmware *HDMI issues still (my HDMI decided it would stop working) *Access speeds from USB port to an External usb HDD make high definition ...
...updates to do not think Kiss have taken their time with this product. In my opinion this is now very over priced for its age. And looking around you can buy HD media player which is more up to date than the Kiss 600. At one stage my kiss player failed to load for about a month i tried to downgrade the firmware to reset it did this about 20-30 times then it came back to life. On the plus side it has played all the media i have - Xvid, Divx, Avi ... Read review

Good player fireware may be a problem
Review of Kiss DP1000 by 5621josh

Advantages: plays all types of formats inculding DivX/XviD ,looks good
Disadvantages: firmeware

...2.9.0 version, available on the Kiss website. However, this only made matters worse, and now nothing worked for more than approximately 3 minutes - I was unable to watch any films nor could I listen to MP3/Ogg Vorbis music, and even accessing menus caused crashes to occur frequently! Fortunately, I found a forum (www.mpeg-playcenter.com) where it recommended I downgrade the firmware, due to incompatibility with the Toshiba drive. You can determine ...
...firmware you use. Fortunately, however, KiSS regularly upgrade the firmware in response to users\' feedback, and there is a good community that provides excellent unofficial firmware releases in between the official versions. If you can\'t afford the more expensive models with LAN capability and in-built HDD, then I\'d recommend this player as a cheaper alternative. I would have given 4½ stars if possible, but instead will only give it 4 stars due ... Read review

An old DVD Player but still useful
Review of Kiss DP-1000 by JGK555

Advantages: Slim Line and plays almost every movie format
Disadvantages: Very fragile and occasional crash

...have trouble playing, but the Kiss web site has firmware updates available free to download then just copy to disc put it in your machine and it does the rest. I've had a very good experience with the compatibility of the player it has accepted all the brands of discs I use (Sony, Datawrite, Philips, Infinity, Tevion). The playback sound and picture quality is beautiful, even on some of the most compressed movies. Overall View ````````````````` ...
...look to purchase a more advanced version hopefully more stable because I loved the ease of compatibility with this one and not being restricted to certain media formats. This player is probably now cheap enough to use as a bedroom player or if you want to back up your discs and give the copy's to younger kids incase they destroy your main discs, this player would be ideal, but as a main player I would recommend looking at something more up to date. ... High Spec DVD Player
Review of Kiss DP1504 by npevler

Advantages: Networked, 40Gb Hard drive
Disadvantages: Slow Menus, Low quality remote

...When I purchased my Kiss player (Q1 2005) it was the only networkable DVD player available in the UK. Since then the market has become a little more crowed with Media PCs and other networked device, however the Kiss player still holds its own partly due to the fact that the Players Firmware (the software which produces the Menus) is upgradeable. The player has a 10\100 Ethernet port for wired connection to a network or a PCMCIA card slot for a wireless ...
...which I use to connect to my main PC network. The player will allow you to play a variety of computer files including Movies; AVI, MPG, DivX and I think XviD. Audio; Wav, MP3. Graphics; Gif and Jpg. These files can be shared from a PC\Mac on the same network or copied onto the players hard drive. The player also has a facility to listen to WebRadio, this is provided via a shoutcast application which is not up to the standard of Radio supplied by ... Read review

The future of Home Recording
Review of Kiss DP-450 by Echelon17

Advantages: Plays most formats, firmware upgradeable
Disadvantages: No QPel Support, slow firmware updates

...I don't refer to the Kiss player as a DVD Player, as it plays so much more. It's much better suited to be described as a home entertainment system. Out of the box it covers most common codecs; DivX 3.11+, XviD, MPEG2, MPEG, JPG, MP3 to name most. Basically if you download content from the Internet, this is most likely to play it, and at fantastic quality. You may be thinking, why get one of these when I can watch everything on my PC? The answer ...
...and look fantastic. The Kiss also supports subtltles in SRT format, so you can turn them on and off at the push of a button - handy for the hard of hearing. Ths unit is also firmware upgradeable, which means that bug fixes can be added by the use of downloading the latest firmware and burning it onto a CD. You then launch the player with the CD inserted, wait a minute or so and the process is complete. This allows for playing of new content, with ... Read review
