An old DVD Player but still useful
Advantages: Slim Line and plays almost every movie format Disadvantages: Very fragile and occasional crash
...have trouble playing, but the Kiss web site has firmware updates available free to download then just copy to disc put it in your machine and it does the rest.
I've had a very good experience with the compatibility of the player it has accepted all the brands of discs I use (Sony, Datawrite, Philips, Infinity, Tevion).
The playback sound and picture quality is beautiful, even on some of the most compressed movies.

... ...look to purchase a more advanced version hopefully more stable because I loved the ease of compatibility with this one and not being restricted to certain media formats.
This player is probably now cheap enough to use as a bedroom player or if you want to back up your discs and give the copy's to younger kids incase they destroy your main discs, this player would be ideal, but as a main player I would recommend looking at something more up to date.

High Spec DVD Player
Advantages: Networked, 40Gb Hard drive Disadvantages: Slow Menus, Low quality remote
...When I purchased my Kiss player (Q1 2005) it was the only networkable DVD player available in the UK. Since then the market has become a little more crowed with Media PCs and other networked device, however the Kiss player still holds its own partly due to the fact that the Players Firmware (the software which produces the Menus) is upgradeable. The player has a 10\100 Ethernet port for wired connection to a network or a PCMCIA card slot for a wireless ... ...which I use to connect to my main PC network. The player will allow you to play a variety of computer files including Movies; AVI, MPG, DivX and I think XviD. Audio; Wav, MP3. Graphics; Gif and Jpg. These files can be shared from a PC\Mac on the same network or copied onto the players hard drive. The player also has a facility to listen to WebRadio, this is provided via a shoutcast application which is not up to the standard of Radio supplied by ...

The future of Home Recording
Advantages: Plays most formats, firmware upgradeable Disadvantages: No QPel Support, slow firmware updates
...I don't refer to the Kiss player as a DVD Player, as it plays so much more. It's much better suited to be described as a home entertainment system. Out of the box it covers most common codecs; DivX 3.11+, XviD, MPEG2, MPEG, JPG, MP3 to name most. Basically if you download content from the Internet, this is most likely to play it, and at fantastic quality.
You may be thinking, why get one of these when I can watch everything on my PC? The answer ... ...and look fantastic.
The Kiss also supports subtltles in SRT format, so you can turn them on and off at the push of a button - handy for the hard of hearing.
Ths unit is also firmware upgradeable, which means that bug fixes can be added by the use of downloading the latest firmware and burning it onto a CD. You then launch the player with the CD inserted, wait a minute or so and the process is complete. This allows for playing of new content, with ...

Denons mid-ranged upscaled goodness
Advantages: excellent upscaling, wealth of play back features Disadvantages: feels cheap
...other reason. I bought this Denon 1930 a couple of years ago, before Blu Ray took a foot hold and before I ordered my PS3. I have got a reasonably large DVD collection and I wanted something good that could do the old discs justice. Denon have a certain way with these things. The aptly named Denon DVD 1930 is now discontinued. Like other Denon products it was one in a line of DVD players in its range, it was followed by the 1940 but now seems to ... ...still a shining example. The Denon range goes up into the 3000 series and then the flagship DVD-A1UD which would set you back the princely sum of £4,500! It looks like it would play EVERYTHING though. The 1930 is a good example of an upscaling DVD player. When it first arrived along the similarly designed AVR 1907, at my house, I was pleased to see the eye catching design. I must say at this point that I was rather disappointed with the weight of ...

An excellent piece of kit
Advantages: Fantastic quality picture, easy setup, great looking player, upscaling, value for money Disadvantages: None
This dvd player is a fantastic piece of kit which looks fantastic. The player was very simple to setup for my LCD HD Ready tv as all I had to do was plug the player into the power socket and plug the HDMI cable into the tv and the other end in the DVD player and all was ready to go.
The player is an upscaling player which means that your standard dvd's will be much brighter and crisper than when you play them on a standard dvd player. The player ... ...weighs no more than the standard players on the market and when I first switched this on and inserted my dvd I was impressed by how quiet running the player was as well as how bright the picture was (my previous player was a Bush with upscaling which I was impressed with but this blew that out of the water).
This is a fantastic piece of kit which is packed full of features as well as having the standard features work perfectly (fast forward, chapter ...
