It does exactly what it says on the tin... my sonny
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use and nice looking Disadvantages: none to speak of for the price
...player I came across this Sony DVP, which, according to what I was reading about it, could handle the many formats which my kids wanted, nay, needed, to have.
During my search I found the same DVD player being sold at several different shops, both on line and on the high street, with a few quite similar price tags… * £39.19 from Tesco
* £35.00 from amazon
* £39.99 from Argos.
So, as I had promised to replace the ’dodgy’ DVD player as soon as ... ...and the back of the Sony DVD player.
The television screen burst into life as the two machines connected, the on screen instructions asking me which language I wanted, what screen ratio I desired and some other rather simple questions, each being answered by pressing the ‘enter’ button.
That was it, the DVD player was now set up and running so my kids could watch their favourite movies/music and I could have a bit of piece and quiet.

The Sony DVP-PR30 Is My Little Black Box
Advantages: Neat, Stylish and Performs Well. Disadvantages: Quite basic but it works well.
Sony Persona DVP-PR30 is a Compact DVD Player in black. It is a neat little DVD Player with excellent performance, it has a Precision Drive 3 Mechanism for fast, stable and accurate playback. The playback has always been clear audibly and swift. There are many features to the Sony Persona DVP-PR30 including; Playback of DVD-RW/-R /-R DL (VR mode w/o CPRM), Playback of JPEG, mp3, Audio CD-R/RW, Super VCD discs, DivX Playback and Fast / Slow Playback ... ...just 2.3 Kg. The Sony Persona DVP-PR30 was released in 2008 and is still relatively new to the market.
Initially I bought this for my bedroom to work alongside my new wide-screen television set. It is lightweight but well made so the remote is easy to use with my TV. I loved the way it was so neat and compact it takes up hardly any room. This is ideal for a bedroom or smaller sized room and if you haven't got much space then this is a fantastic ...

Sony DVP-NS38B - good cheap multiregion DVD player
Advantages: Cheap, Multiregion, Works well Disadvantages: A bit complicated!
...finally died, I bought the Sony DVP-NS38 B as its replacement for approximately £60. My requirements for a DVD player were extremely basic: I wanted an entry level multi-region DVD player. So I headed off to my local Richer Sounds and had a look at the two or three that satisfied my requirements and didn't look too flimsy and picked the one that they happened to have in stock. According to the manual, as well as commercial DVDs, this model supports ... ...Music CD and CD-RW/-R. The DVD player is very thin, meaning that not many buttons or controls fit on it, and the LED display is very small and does not contain a lot of information. In terms of outputs - it has a digital audio coax and a SCART socket. On the front of the case there are the following buttons: standby, open/close, play and stop. With the number of DVDs that require menu selection, the lack of up/down buttons is frustrating as it means ...

Denons mid-ranged upscaled goodness
Advantages: excellent upscaling, wealth of play back features Disadvantages: feels cheap
...other reason. I bought this Denon 1930 a couple of years ago, before Blu Ray took a foot hold and before I ordered my PS3. I have got a reasonably large DVD collection and I wanted something good that could do the old discs justice. Denon have a certain way with these things. The aptly named Denon DVD 1930 is now discontinued. Like other Denon products it was one in a line of DVD players in its range, it was followed by the 1940 but now seems to ... ...still a shining example. The Denon range goes up into the 3000 series and then the flagship DVD-A1UD which would set you back the princely sum of £4,500! It looks like it would play EVERYTHING though. The 1930 is a good example of an upscaling DVD player. When it first arrived along the similarly designed AVR 1907, at my house, I was pleased to see the eye catching design. I must say at this point that I was rather disappointed with the weight of ...
